Full job description

We are a well-established full service, family style restaurant in the lovely community of Fort Erie. We offer dine-in, take-out, and delivery. We are growing and adding to our team! Position Profile

· Prepared and cooked menu items and daily specials at The Barrel, following the restaurant’s recipes and plating standards for a busy italian-style kitchen

· Adjusted dishes on request for allergies or dietary needs (gluten-free, vegetarian, etc.), communicating directly with the head chef to confirm modifications before dishes went out

· Kept the line running during peak service — coordinating with other cooks and servers so orders came out on time and consistent during busy weekend and event nights

· Tracked food and supply inventory in the kitchen, flagging low stock and helping place orders with suppliers

· Broke down, cleaned, and sanitized cooking equipment, prep surfaces, and storage areas at the end of each shift to meet food safety standards

· Helped plan menu items and specials with the chef, including portioning and estimating ingredient costs for new dishes

· Trained new hires on my station’s setup, prep work, and service flow

· Minimum High School Diploma

· Adaptable and able to adjust quickly to changing orders, menu items, or kitchen demands during service

· High attention to detail, particularly with food prep, portioning, and presentation

· Strong team player who collaborates well with other kitchen staff and front-of-house

· High stress tolerance — able to stay calm and effective during busy rushes and peak hours

· Willingness to actively learn new recipes, techniques, and kitchen procedures

· Comfortable managing food, supplies, and equipment inventory (material resources) at a moderate level

· Able to perform basic quality control checks on food before it leaves the kitchen

· Solid time management skills to keep multiple dishes moving and get orders out on time

· Basic ability to coordinate with other kitchen staff during service

· Critical thinking skills to troubleshoot minor issues (e.g., ingredient substitutions, timing adjustments)Thrives in a fast-paced restaurant environment
