ABOUT THE ROLE

We are currently accepting resumes from dedicated and energetic individuals who are looking for a challenging and rewarding career as a Service Shop Supervisor at our Calmont Truck Center Location in Nisku, AB.

As a Service Shop Supervisor, your primary responsibility is to manage the day-to-day administrative and clerical functions of the service department as well as oversee Heavy Duty Technicians and Apprentices and allocate work orders to each individual’s abilities ensuring the quality of work is to standard as defined by the organization and manufacturer’s specifications. Some of the job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Engaging with customers and acting as liaison for the service department.
  • Contacting customers when additional work is required ensuring that work is authorized.
  • Working with Service Manager to keep building and safety maintenance programs up to date.
  • Following-up on status of repairs to ensure units will be ready when promised.
  • Advising customers of the status of repairs and any delays when required.
  • Working with service personnel to provide accurate quotes on costs of repairs.
  • Reviewing all work orders to ensure all charges are fair, equitable, properly documented, and shop supplies are accounted for.
  • Ensuring all work orders are closed in an expeditious manner within monthly and yearly timelines.
  • Ensure all service problems listed by customer are addressed and maintain positive company/customer relationships. Effectively resolve any customer dispute brought forward to achieve customer satisfaction and report business.
  • Develop and maintain adequate systems and procedures to provide a measure of efficiency of the departments.
  • Establish and direct paper flow for quotations, work orders, work in progress, work in progress exceptions (redo), job closing routines, customer invoicing, purchase requisition and payables, and management reports.
  • Monitor warranty costs and claim performance.
  • Ensure the execution of Apprentices’ training program and sign off on hours.
  • Instruct service technicians of the scope of intended work to be performed with expectations, holding them accountable to said expectations.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Prior Supervisory/Management experience in automotive or related industry.
  • 4 – 5 years prior Service Department technical experience or mechanical background preferred.
  • Energetic and friendly with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to prioritize and organize workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the drive to meet tight deadlines.
  • CDK knowledge an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience with MS Word and Excel.
