We are currently seeking an Environmental Scientist to join our Environmental Division to work out of our Toronto office.

Responsibilities

• Coordination and communication with subcontractors including drillers, excavators, construction contractors, utility locators and laboratories;
• Compilation, tabulation and evaluation of analytical data with accuracy;
• Preparation of technical reports in consultation with the project manager or other more senior environmental professional;
• Attend and participate in project or client meetings, as required;
• Participate in Proposal preparation including preparation of cost estimates and proposal text, and compilation of supporting information;
• Communication with clients; attend and participate in project or client meetings, as required;
• Other related duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, Science, Hydrogeology or equivalent;
• 3-5 years of relevant work experience;
• Future eligibility as a P.Eng. or P.Geo. designation;
• Strong technical understanding and experience with provincial (Ontario) regulations and industry standard practices related to environmental site assessment, including O.Reg. 153/04 (Records of Site Condition), O.Reg. 406/19 (On-Site and Excess Soil Management and CSA Standards for Phase I and II ESAs);
• Strong knowledge of soil classification, contaminant transport, hydrogeology and environmental site assessment;
• Experience in sample collection and use of field equipment, including surveying equipment, water quality meters and pumps;
• Experience with GIS and AutoCAD an asset;
• Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act;
• Must have strong verbal/written communication skills and the ability to communicate clearly with a variety of individuals (e.g., project managers, laboratories, subcontractors and clients);
• Must be reliable, well organized and have a strong attention to detail;
• Strong time management skills, problem solving skills and decision-making abilities; and
• Must be able to lift equipment up to 25 kilograms; and
• Valid Driver’s license and travel to project sites is required. Mileage for work related travel will be reimbursed.
