Job Title: Podcast Studio Producer / Set Build Coordinator

Job Type: Freelance / Contract
Location: New York City preferred
Compensation: Based on experience

Overview

We are looking for an experienced Podcast Studio Producer / Set Build Coordinator to help create a professional podcast and video studio setup from start to finish.

This role is for someone who can manage the full process of building a production-ready podcast studio, including finding a suitable location, planning the set design, sourcing equipment, setting up lighting, organizing audio, coordinating camera placement, and making sure the space is ready for filming.

The ideal candidate has experience building or managing podcast studios, YouTube studios, interview sets, content studios, or video production spaces. This is not just a filming role. We need someone who can handle the full setup from A to Z.

Responsibilities

  • Help find and evaluate suitable studio locations
  • Plan the layout of the podcast or video studio
  • Coordinate the full studio setup from start to finish
  • Design or help source the visual set, furniture, backdrop, props, and decor
  • Set up or coordinate lighting for a professional podcast and video look
  • Set up or coordinate audio equipment, microphones, sound treatment, and recording workflow
  • Advise on camera placement, framing, lenses, and production angles
  • Source or recommend equipment for video, audio, lighting, and set design
  • Coordinate vendors, rentals, installers, production crew, or contractors if needed
  • Make sure the space is practical, visually strong, and ready for repeat filming
  • Create a setup that works for both long-form podcast episodes and short-form social clips
  • Ensure the studio setup supports YouTube, TikTok, Instagram Reels, and other content platforms
  • Troubleshoot production setup issues related to lighting, sound, space, and workflow

Qualifications

  • Proven experience setting up podcast studios, video studios, YouTube studios, interview sets, or content production spaces
  • Strong understanding of lighting, audio, camera setup, framing, and set design
  • Ability to manage a production setup from concept to completion
  • Experience sourcing locations, studios, equipment, furniture, props, or production vendors
  • Strong eye for visual design, atmosphere, and on-camera presentation
  • Understanding of how to build a set that looks professional on camera
  • Ability to think practically about workflow, filming angles, sound quality, and repeat production use
  • Strong organization and project management skills
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate multiple moving parts
  • Good communication skills and ability to work with creators, producers, and production teams

Experience Needed

Required:

  • Experience building, designing, or managing podcast, video, or content studio setups
  • Experience with lighting setup for video or podcast production
  • Experience with audio setup, microphones, sound treatment, or recording workflows
  • Experience with camera placement, framing, and production layout
  • Ability to source or coordinate equipment, vendors, and locations

Strongly Preferred:

  • Experience building creator-led podcast studios or YouTube sets
  • Experience with multi-camera podcast setups
  • Experience designing studios for both long-form and short-form content
  • Experience working with founders, creators, media brands, or production companies
  • Experience managing the full production environment from location to final setup

Nice to Have:

  • Network of studio locations, vendors, equipment rental companies, set designers, or production crew
  • Experience in New York City production spaces
  • Experience with livestreaming or remote recording setups
  • Experience with branded content, interview shows, or creator media
  • Ability to recommend equipment within different budget ranges

What We Are Not Looking For

  • Someone who only edits videos
  • Someone who only operates a camera
  • Someone who only does interior design without production experience
  • Someone who cannot manage the full studio setup process
  • Someone with no experience in lighting, audio, or video production spaces

The main skills we care about are studio setup, production planning, lighting, sound, location sourcing, set design, and the ability to create a professional filming environment from A to Z.

Application Requirements

Please include examples of podcast studios, video sets, YouTube studios, interview setups, or production spaces you have built, designed, managed, or worked on.

Relevant examples may include:

  • Podcast studio setups
  • YouTube studio builds
  • Interview sets
  • Multi-camera podcast productions
  • Lighting setups
  • Audio setups
  • Set design work
  • Behind-the-scenes production photos
  • Studio build case studies
  • Content spaces you helped source or create

Applicants with relevant studio build or production setup experience will be prioritized.

Paid Test / Consultation

Shortlisted candidates may be asked to complete a paid consultation or proposal. This may include reviewing the goals of the show and suggesting a studio direction, location approach, equipment list, lighting setup, and production workflow.

Pay: $30.00-$100.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
