Job Summary

The Apprentice/Express Service Technician will work with a Licensed Automotive Service Technician and in the Express Service Bay, on a rotational basis.

The Apprentice will learn the skills of the trade under the guidance of the Service Manager, Shop Foreman, and Licensed Automotive Service Technicians. The Apprentice is required to undertake and complete all aspects of learning necessary to fulfill the apprenticeship program as per the guidelines of the Ontario College of Trades.

The Express Service Technician will perform all aspects of the Express Service in accordance with proper procedures and protocols to ensure the highest level of quality workmanship.

What you offer

Job Duties:

As an Apprentice, the incumbent must be able to learn, understand and eventually perform the tasks of a licensed Automotive Technician. The Apprentice will work with and be guided by a certified Toyota technician at the T1 level. At T2 the Apprentice Toyota Technician may work in own bay. Other duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Learn to properly use the special tools and equipment provided by the service department. Proper use of special shop tools includes cleaning, repairing, and returning to the proper spot in the Machine Room or Tool Board. Report broken tools to management
  • Participate, complete and remain current with all assigned technical trainings
  • Follow Manufacturer warranty policies and procedures in all warranty work
  • Maintain the assigned workspace in an organized and clean manner
  • Ensure that the customer’s vehicles are returned to them as clean as they were prior to being serviced
  • Attend and successfully complete all levels of the Apprentice Program

Express Service Technician:

As an Express Service Technician, the incumbent will perform express services in Express Service Bay. Express Service include but are not limited to: Toyota lubrication service, Toyota recommended services, seasonal tire changes, installation and balancing of new tires, light bulbs, filters, wipers, and minor maintenance items.

  • Maintain courteous and professional manner in all interactions with clients and staff
  • Advise customers of necessary services
  • Perform lubrication services on vehicles carefully following the prescribed procedures
  • Torque wrench (supplied) MUST be used to tighten drain plug every time
  • Take utmost care with our client’s vehicle to ensure we do not damage or dirty them in any way
  • Maintain a neat appearance and workplace
  • Use power tools, machine tools, and common hand tools to perform various tasks

General Duties:

  • Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures of the Tony Graham Automotive Group.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation (i.e., Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Human Rights Code, Highway Traffic Act, etc.)
  • Any other responsibilities are required and/or as assigned

The successful candidate will have the following:

Education and Qualification

  • Valid Driver’s Licence and acceptable Driver’s Abstract
  • Clean driving record, and reporting to management any circumstances regarding the status of this license
  • Successful completion of Secondary School
  • Enrollment in the Ontario College of Trades Apprentice Program, or willingness to enroll
  • Minimum G2 Driver’s License and a clear driving record
  • Minor automotive knowledge is an asset
  • WHMIS training and knowledge of Health and Safety
  • Continuing education/training provided by Toyota Canada to keep updated of changes in newer models or methods

Language

  • Fluent in English, oral and written
  • Bilingualism, an asset

  • Able to use the specialized tools required associated with this profession
  • Strong computer skills
  • Able to complete the physical demands of the position
  • Able to drive vehicles with both manual and automotive transmissions. Able to drive vehicles in tight spaces (ex. in and out of showroom) and heights (ex. ramps)

Schedule:

Monday – Friday: Rotational Schedule.

Tire Season(s) – Rotational Saturdays 8:00 am – 4:00 pm

Pay Structure:

Starting from - $19.00 per hour

Job Type: Full-time
