Full job description

Kitchen on Sixth is looking for an experienced and creative Head Chef to lead our kitchen team and help shape the restaurant’s next chapter.

We are a busy neighbourhood restaurant in Toronto with a strong local following. We are looking for a hands on chef who can strengthen the menu, raise standards, and bring a more refined approach while keeping the restaurant welcoming and approachable.

This role is suited to someone who understands how to improve familiar dishes through strong technique, thoughtful presentation, consistency, and attention to detail.

The Head Chef will be responsible for:

  • Leading, training, and developing the kitchen team
  • Managing daily preparation and service
  • Developing seasonal dishes and improving the existing menu
  • Maintaining high standards for flavour, quality, and presentation
  • Managing ordering, inventory, and supplier relationships
  • Controlling food and labour costs
  • Creating schedules and supporting recruitment
  • Maintaining food safety, cleanliness, and health standards
  • Reducing waste and improving kitchen systems
  • Working closely with ownership on the restaurant’s direction
  • Creating a calm, organized, and professional kitchen culture

The ideal candidate is a confident leader with strong culinary skills and a clear creative point of view. You should be organized, reliable, cost conscious, and able to balance creativity with the demands of a busy neighbourhood restaurant.

Previous experience as a Head Chef, Executive Chef, Kitchen Manager, or experienced Sous Chef is required.

This is a full time position. Evening and weekend availability is required.

Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
