Role Description

This is a full-time on-site position located in Victoria, BC. The Engineering Manager will lead a team of engineers and oversee the execution of multiple projects. The role involves providing technical guidance, managing project timelines and resources, ensuring successful product integration, and coordinating with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative engineering solutions. Additionally, the Engineering Manager will drive process improvements and maintain a high-performing team environment.The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and inspiring his or her team to achieve their performance metrics. Your role will involve strategizing, project management, part staff management. Your collaborative attitude and interpersonal skills will help you thrive as an Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Engineering Manager is responsible for but not limited to the following:
  • Actively participates on the Bailey Electronics leadership team, developing and maintaining the EOS (i.e. 1/3/10yr vision, etc.)
  • Actively engages in corporate decision making balancing the needs of all stakeholders
  • Ensures full collaboration with corporate shared resources to execute company goals
  • Develops and actions short and long term engineering strategies for international markets
  • Leads/ mentors/ develops Engineering’s team
  • Develops cost and time effective solutions in collaboration with the Bailey Electronics Leadership team
  • Supports acquisition and leads large scale projects successfully, within budget and on time
  • Leads engineering teams in Victoria, BC, Canada and Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, as well as coordinates with engineering teams in Knoxville, TN, USA
  • Leads a team of engineers and technicians to develop production equipment and processes for existing and new products
  • Develops and supports talent management strategies for individuals in the team
  • Maintain the team’s capacity to meet business needs
  • Long term capability development and training of the team to meet long term departmental and business goals
  • Owns the process of creating the product concept, design and production release for mechanical and electronic designs
  • Maintains and improves the quality, profitability and design of products
  • Plans, executes, and manages team to the P&L
  • Monitors all Engineering key performance indicators and takes action to ensure they exceed targets.
  • Seeks to improve engineering technical and process systems and other internal systems to better serve the customer
  • Management of facility and equipment infrastructure for the engineering team
  • Develop and maintain the development of technology for the business
  • Develop and maintain intellectual property and patents
  • Works directly with all teams to improve inter-team systems and culture
  • Works to ensure that the risk associated with designs are low, based on sound engineering principles, a well-ordered design process and qualified team members
  • Responsible for maintaining and improving all engineering tools and processes
  • Holds teams accountable to established processes and procedures
  • Develops and maintains standards for engineering materials, drawings, and other engineering practices
  • Adheres to companywide and department specific safety guidelines
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, from an accredited college/ university or equivalent work experience
  • At least 7 years of work-related experience
  • Knowledge and experience working in a formal Engineering environment required
  • Project Management skills and experience
  • Experience managing overseas (i.e. India) engineering resources a plus
