About the Role
We are looking for a motivated Junior Mechanical Designer to join our Engineering team in Delta, BC. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design, or CAD graduate who wants hands-on experience with real equipment, not just desk-based drafting. You will be supported as you learn and build your foundation in mechanical design.
You will help design specialized vehicle-mounted equipment used by utility companies and contractors across Canada, including bucket trucks, digger derricks, utility service vehicles, and custom truck-mounted assemblies.

What You’ll Do
- Create fabrication and assembly drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD
- Develop and maintain 3D models, drawing packages, and bills of materials (BOMs)
- Assist with custom vehicle equipment layouts and installations
- Support engineering changes, design improvements, and document control through SolidWorks PDM
- Collaborate with designers, engineers, project managers, and production staff to learn how designs move from concept to production
- Learn industry standards related to vehicle-mounted equipment
What We’re Looking For
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design, Drafting, or a related discipline
- 0–2 years of experience in design, drafting, engineering, manufacturing, or a co-op environment
- Experience with SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD
- Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in manufacturing
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills
Nice to Have
- Experience with fabrication, welding, machining, sheet metal, or manufacturing processes
- Knowledge of structural assemblies, SolidWorks PDM, or vehicle-mounted equipment
- Automotive, heavy equipment, marine, aviation, or industrial equipment experience
If you are early in your career and do not meet every qualification, we still encourage you to apply.
You May Be a Good Fit If You Are
- Curious, dependable, and eager to learn
- Practical problem-solver who take ownership of their work
- Detail-oriented and organized
- Comfortable working in both an office and production environment
- Interested in how products are manufactured, assembled, and used in the field
Career Growth
