Conair is the largest, privately owned, fixed-wing aerial firefighting company in the world, operating a fleet of 70 specialized aircraft to fight forest fires. We are aerospace engineering experts, creating 15 different airtanker types, converting hundreds of aircraft into airtankers. We are aviation maintenance experts, performing repair, maintenance and overhaul on our fleet. And we are operators, providing airtankers, crew and maintenance on contract over fire seasons to government agencies including Canada, the US, Australia and France. We currently have an opening for a full-time permanent Induction Maintenance Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME), based in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada.
Reporting to the Induction Maintenance Crew Lead, the Induction Maintenance AME will be able to work under varying supervision on aircraft undergoing conversion to Air Tankers, incl heavy maintenance, troubleshooting and major component replacements. Able to operate independently and exercise good judgment.
In this role your duties will include the following:

  • Carry out maintenance on Conair production A/C and production projects as assigned.
  • Ensure aircraft are maintained in accordance with Conair policies and procedures and Transport Canada requirements.
  • Always ensuring your personal safety and safety of co-workers.
  • Completing assigned tasks and related paperwork in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Working within a team environment assisting and/or directing fellow employees with the performance of their duties in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Maintaining currency as applicable to Conair policies, procedures, Maintenance Bulletins, and notices.
  • Knowledge of CAR’s regulations as related to aircraft maintenance.
  • Requirement for periodic travel to assist with the inspections, evaluation and RTS of airframes. This includes candidate airtanker airframe evaluations, representing Conair as a customer rep. with our out-of-town 3rd party maintenance, paint and sub-contractors.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Knowledge of government laws, safety rules, regulations, and safe practices.
  • Knowledge of aircraft parts and theory of aircraft structures.
  • Ability to learn new skills quickly and respond to verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work effectively with mechanical tools and equipment.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in the repair, overhaul and maintenance of aircraft.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to act with professionalism.
  • Ability to clearly and effectively express information and ideas both verbally and in writing.

Training/Education:

  • Holder of Transport Canada Licenses M1 or M2.
  • Successful completion of an AME category M training course from a Transport Canada Approved Training Organization.
  • Q400 type training and experience considered an asset.

Pay: $40.10-$55.61 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
