POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a detail-oriented Junior Accountant to support bookkeeping and month-end activities for bowling, restaurant and bar operations, with some commercial rent accounting. This position provides an opportunity to gradually develop experience in tenant billing, rent accounting and lease administration. We are looking for a dependable candidate interested in a stable, long-term position with the company.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Bowling, Restaurant & Bar Operations

  • Maintain accounting records and month-end schedules for sales, payroll, prepaid expenses and inventory.
  • Post journal entries, accruals and adjustments and investigate discrepancies.
  • Reconcile bank, credit card, deposit and point-of-sale accounts.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing and prepare monthly income statements.
  • Prepare, reconcile and file GST, PST, WCB and EHT returns and remittances.

Commercial Rent Accounting

  • Maintain rent rolls and lease billing; prepare invoices, tenant statements and percentage-rent billings.
  • Record rental income, reconcile tenant accounts and respond to billing inquiries.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Canadian post-secondary certificate, diploma or degree in accounting, bookkeeping, finance or a related field.
  • One to two years of relevant experience.
  • Hands-on experience with both QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Online.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience with journal entries, reconciliations and month-end procedures.
  • Strong English and Korean communication skills; accurate, organized and able to work independently.
  • Able to work on-site in Burnaby and Surrey and legally entitled to work in Canada.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Commercial rent accounting, rent rolls, tenant invoicing, percentage rent or lease review.
