The Learning Disabilities Association of Toronto District (LDATD) is a chapter of the Learning Disabilities Association of Ontario (LDAO) serving the amalgamated City of Toronto. LDATD is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to creating a society in which people with learning disabilities (LDs) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) are able to achieve the full expression of their intellect and abilities.

Program: Employment Services (EO Funded Program) Position: Employment Consultant (Full-Time)

Specifics: The Employment Consultant plays a key role in supporting job seekers with diverse needs by combining the functions of employment counseling, job development, and job coaching. This position is responsible for assisting clients in achieving sustainable employment by providing individualized support, employer engagement, and workplace coaching. The consultant will work closely with both job seekers and employers to ensure a successful employment match, retention, and career advancement.

Strong preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate proven understanding and knowledge of the LD community and individuals with disabilities.

Employment Counseling & Client Support:

- Conduct intake assessments to evaluate clients’ employment readiness, skills, and career goals.

- Develop individualized employment action plans tailored to each client’s strengths and needs.

- Provide career coaching, job search strategies, resume writing, interview preparation, and workplace integration support.

- Deliver workshops and one-on-one sessions on employment-related topics.

- Support clients in addressing barriers to employment, including accommodations for individuals with learning disabilities and neurodiversity.

- Track and document client progress in accordance with funder requirements and organizational guidelines.

Job Development & Employer Engagement:

- Establish and maintain relationships with employers, industry partners, and community organizations to identify job opportunities.

- Conduct outreach and networking to create employment and training opportunities for job seekers.

- Promote employer awareness of inclusive hiring practices and provide guidance on accommodations for diverse candidates.

- Coordinate job placements, internships, and work-integrated learning opportunities.

- Mediate and resolve any challenges that may arise between clients and employers.

Job Coaching & Workplace Support:

- Provide on-the-job coaching and support to clients to ensure successful job retention and career growth.

- Assist clients in developing workplace soft skills, problem-solving, and adapting to new work environments.

- Conduct follow-ups with clients and employers to ensure successful job integration and identify additional support needs.

- Facilitate workplace accommodations and modifications to support client success in the workplace.

- Provide support with career progression, upskilling, and professional development opportunities.

Other program support, reporting, LDATD

- Support monitoring of employment/placements, including follow-ups, surveys and outcome and provide statistical information as requested

- Evaluate results, record weekly activity and submit a report to program supervisor

- Continue to support participants accessing the job retention part or direct hire

- Maintains up-to-date case notes, progress reports, participants’ paper, electronic and on-line portal files

- Conduct outreach activities and recruitment as per program requirements

- Work closely with industries and sectors to ensure updated information on occupation prospects

- Keep updated on the labour market, specific careers and occupations, education, training and employment opportunities and career planning and job search strategies

- Informs team about emerging employment related matters

- Attends staff meetings and participates in reporting and decision-making as required

- Facilitate constructive, culturally sensitive communication between LDATD staff and clients

- Coordinate information, activities and linkages with other LDATD programs

Required Qualifications, Experience and Skills:

· Post-secondary education in Career Counseling, Social Work, Human Resources, or a related field.

· Minimum 3 years of experience in employment services, job development, or workforce development.

· Knowledge of Employment Ontario programs and guidelines is required (FFAI, EO portal, and etc.)

· Experience working with individuals with learning disabilities and neurodiversity.

· Strong networking and relationship-building skills with employers and stakeholders.

· Ability to provide motivational coaching, mentorship, and job readiness training.

· Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and case management systems.

· Knowledge of labour market trends, employment standards, and workplace accommodation strategies.

· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

TERMS:

Work hours:

· 35 hours (Full-Time)

· Start date: Sept 1st , 2025

· Pay Rate: $29

· Fixed-term contract position

- In-person within LDATD offices/program locations in North York
