PEER SUPPORT WORKER (Full-Time and Part Time)

Do you have a desire to help others in abstinence-based addiction recovery?

Redemption House of Recovery is looking for compassionate Peer Support Workers to join our team. If you have personal experience with addiction and 18 months of continuous sobriety, we want to hear from you!

POSITION DETAILS

  • Position: Full-Time and Part Time
  • Hours: 42 hours per week
  • Work Schedule: 12-hour shifts (Day & Night)
  • Work Hours: (6:30 am – 6:30pm and 6:30pm – 6:30am)
  • Location: Newtonville, Ontario
  • Work Location: In person

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking individuals with personal experience in addiction & recovery to:

  • Walk hand-in-hand with individuals in the program
  • Provide night and overnight supervision
  • Facilitate group sessions
  • Support a safe, structured, and recovery-focused environment
  • Prepare daily meals and assist with meal preparation and meal planning
  • Manage routine household cleaning, including kitchen, bathrooms, floors, and common areas
  • Help maintain an organized and well-run household (laundry, tidying, inventory, and basic home management tasks)

Required Qualifications

  • Personal experience with addiction & recovery
  • Minimum 18 months of continuous sobriety
  • Valid G Class Driver’s Licence
  • Clean Driver’s Abstract
  • Reliable motor vehicle
  • Willingness to receive Peer Support training

Required Skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Comfortable using computers for day-to-day work, including Microsoft office software (Word, Excel, Teams), email communication, data entry, and the ability to learn new systems/technologies quickly
  • Ability to support individuals in a respectful, non-judgmental manner
  • Ability to maintain boundaries while providing compassionate peer support
  • Ability to cook basic healthy meals and maintain a clean environment

Preferred Training/Qualifications/Experience

  • Active involvement in a 12-Step program
  • Peer Support Worker Certification (completed or in progress)
  • Group home experience
  • First Aid/CPR certified
