Full job description
Independent Contractor ~ Hybrid
Maple Ridge & Coquitlam, BC
Help people rebuild their confidence and return to meaningful employment.
Leap Frog Consulting is a well-established vocational rehabilitation practice that has been helping individuals return to meaningful employment following injury or disability since 2013. We provide individualized vocational rehabilitation and employment services throughout the Lower Mainland and are committed to delivering exceptional service to every client we support.
We are looking for a Vocational Rehabilitation & Employment Consultant to join our team on an independent contractor basis, who is interested in building a long-term relationship with Leap Frog Consulting and becoming a trusted member of our small, collaborative team.
This is much more than a report-writing role. We are looking for someone who enjoys building genuine relationships with people, takes pride in producing exceptional work, and believes that successful vocational rehabilitation begins with understanding each client's unique story, strengths, and goals.
This is a flexible, hybrid contract position. Consultants meet with clients in person at our Maple Ridge and Coquitlam offices, while report writing, research, documentation, and administrative work are completed from a secure home office.
We welcome applications from experienced professionals as well as emerging consultants with a strong foundation in employment services, excellent client service skills, and a genuine desire to grow within the field of vocational rehabilitation. If you are passionate about helping people rebuild their confidence and achieve meaningful employment, we would love to hear from you.
Who We're Looking For
Our ideal team member is someone who naturally connects with people.
You understand that clients referred to vocational rehabilitation are often navigating significant changes following physical or psychological injury. You know how to make people feel comfortable, listened to, and supported while maintaining professional boundaries and helping them move confidently toward new employment goals.
You are organized, dependable, and curious. You enjoy learning, researching, solving problems, and producing work that reflects a high standard of professionalism. You take ownership of your work, communicate openly, meet deadlines, and genuinely care about providing an exceptional client experience.
Above all, we are looking for someone who wants to become a valued member of our consulting team and contribute to the continued growth and success of Leap Frog Consulting.
Responsibilities
Depending on your experience and areas of expertise, responsibilities may include:
- Building strong, trusting relationships with clients throughout the vocational rehabilitation process.
- Conducting comprehensive vocational interviews to understand each client's education, employment history, transferable skills, strengths, interests, functional abilities, and vocational goals.
- Developing comprehensive Vocational Rehabilitation Plans, including occupational research, labour market research, training research, Transferable Skills Analysis, and detailed vocational recommendations.
- Providing individualized Job Search Support, employment counselling and return-to-work planning.
- Preparing professional resumes, cover letters, interview preparation, and employment marketing strategies.
- Conducting employer outreach and developing employment opportunities aligned with each client's vocational goals and abilities.
- Preparing comprehensive progress reports, vocational rehabilitation reports, recommendations, and other documentation within established timelines.
- Collaborating with clients, employers and referral partners to support successful employment outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum two years of experience providing direct, one-to-one support to clients in vocational rehabilitation, employment services, disability management, return-to-work services, career development, case management, or a closely related field.
- Exceptional written communication and report-writing skills.
- Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to quickly establish rapport with a diverse range of clients.
- Experience supporting individuals experiencing physical, psychological, cognitive, learning, or other barriers to employment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to independently manage competing priorities and meet established deadlines.
- Knowledge of the Lower Mainland labour market and the ability to conduct occupational and labour market research.
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively as part of a collaborative consulting team.
- Ability to travel to our Maple Ridge and Coquitlam offices for in-person client appointments.
Preferred Qualifications
The following qualifications are considered assets:
- University degree or diploma in Psychology, Education, Rehabilitation, Disability Management, Career Development, Social Sciences, or another related discipline.
- Experience developing Vocational Rehabilitation Plans.
- Experience completing Transferable Skills Analyses.
- Experience conducting labour market and occupational research.
- Experience working with WorkSafeBC or other disability management, insurance, vocational rehabilitation, or return-to-work programs.
- Experience providing Individualized Job Placement, Job Search Support, employer engagement, or job development services.
- RRP, CVRP, RTWDM, CCDP, CCVE, or another relevant professional designation, or eligibility to obtain a professional designation.
Additional Requirements
- Secure home office that protects client confidentiality.
- Willingness to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check.
- Professional Liability Insurance.
- Reliable transportation for travel between client meetings.
Why Join Leap Frog Consulting?
At Leap Frog Consulting, we believe every person deserves to be treated with compassion, dignity, and respect as they navigate the challenges of returning to work following injury or disability.
We believe successful vocational rehabilitation is built on meaningful relationships, thoughtful work, and a genuine commitment to helping people move forward with confidence.
We value quality over quantity and strive to provide every client with individualized, responsive service. Our consultants are supported to deliver thoughtful, thorough work rather than simply meeting production targets.
Whether you bring years of vocational rehabilitation experience or are looking for the opportunity to further develop your skills within a supportive team, you'll have the chance to make a meaningful difference in people's lives while building a rewarding career with Leap Frog Consulting.
Compensation: This is an independent contractor position. The hourly range displayed is provided to meet Indeed's posting requirements. Consultants are compensated on a per-service basis, with compensation determined by experience, qualifications, and the range of services provided.
