Overview
The Ski Patrol plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of all guests on the mountain. This position requires a proactive approach to emergency management, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for outdoor activities. As a Ski Patrol member, you will be responsible for monitoring ski areas, responding to emergencies, and providing assistance to skiers and snowboarders. Your commitment to safety and customer service will enhance the overall experience for everyone on the slopes.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor ski slopes and tubing areas to identify and mitigate potential hazards
  • Assist and educate skiers and snowboarders on safe practices and mountain guidelines
  • Respond promptly to accidents and injuries, providing first aid and coordinating further medical attention when necessary
  • Identify and report hazards across ski hill areas on the property to the Outside Operations Manager as necessary
  • Inspect ski and snowboard trails, jumps and features to ensure safety compliance
  • Perform daily inspections such as tubing lane and equipment inspections, weather conditions forecast checks, obstacle clearance, and staff briefings for snowmakers and Lift Operators/Tube park attendants.
  • Provide first aid to injured guests, staff, and volunteers on the ski hill in accordance with Vista Ridge policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with emergency services to seek further medical aid or manage the guest until EMS arrives, when required
  • Conduct and develop incident reports, including near misses, as necessary and in accordance with Vista Ridge policies
  • Conduct search and rescue operations when skiers and tubers go off-course or require assistance
  • Support overall Vista Ridge operations by participating in cross-functional duties as assigned by the Manager
  • Support other outdoor operations staff, including lift operators, to ensure efficient Vista Ridge operations

Experience

  • Personable and professional with the ability to build strong relationships and interact with Vista Staff at all levels of the organization
  • Advanced skiing and/or snowboarding
  • Excellent communication in high-pressure situations
  • Previous snowmobile operating experience is an asset
  • Ability to pass a vulnerable sector check
  • First aid certifications (CSPS or EMR level or Advanced First Aid) Required
  • Class 5 driver's license in good standing
  • Previous ski patrol experience is an asset
