Full job description
Overview
Irwin's Safety is looking for a Field Supervisor for our Emergency Response Division on the ground. You'll run assigned jobs on site as the primary point of contact — keeping the crew safe and productive, and the work delivered to standard. On larger jobs, you'll support site leadership and project leads with an active field presence.
You'll report to the Divisional Manager and work closely with the Planner, the crew, the customer's site team, and the corporate services behind you. You're the link between what's happening in the field and the people planning and running the division — and the field authority on safety while the job is on.
Responsibilities
- Job Planning & Setup — Take part in pre-job meetings with the customer, map out the critical path and scope, and get the site ready — work areas, equipment, communications, crew facilities, and orientation for new workers.
- On-Site Execution — Coordinate on-site operations, delegate the task list, and keep crew and equipment staged and moving. Execute to the plan and risk register, handle contingencies as they come up, and manage mobilization and accommodation changes through the job.
- Safety & Team — Act as the field safety authority: approve safe work plans and JSAs, keep site safety forms and weekly audits current, and reinforce Irwin's safety culture. Coach and mentor new workers, and lead first response, debriefs, and corrective action when incidents happen.
- Records, Reporting & Time — Approve field time, keep the Planner current on manpower and schedule, and liaise with senior project supervisors. Maintain records, complete project reports, and capture client feedback that supports client confidence and contract growth.
Qualifications
- Field experience in emergency response work (Rescue, Medic, Firefighter), with time leading crews on site
- Valid certification in Emergency Response field (Medic or Rescue) would be an asset
- Strong safety background and the standing to lead safety in the field
- Experience coordinating people, and equipment on industrial projects
- Experience with emergency response equipment
- Experience in equipment inspections would be an asset
- Comfortable with field paperwork, audits, approvals, and reporting
- Strong computer skills
- Strong communication skills
- Must be able to travel
- Must possess a full Class 5 ( or Class 4,3,2 or 1) driver's license and a clean drivers abstract
Pay: $40.00-$45.00 per hour
Benefits:
- Disability insurance
- Employee assistance program
- Extended health care
Work Location: On the road
