Position Summary

  • Become proficient in the Company's dispatch, scheduling, and operational management systems.
  • Coordinate the daily dispatch and scheduling of coastal and river tug and barge operations to ensure the safe, efficient, and timely delivery of customer services.
  • Coordinate vessel crews in accordance with applicable Collective Agreements, regulatory requirements, crew qualifications, availability, and operational priorities.
  • Coordinate vessel assignments, barge logistics, cargo movements, customer schedules, and fleet utilization to maximize operational efficiency.
  • Maintain effective communication with vessel Masters, crews, customers, terminals, contractors, and other stakeholders regarding schedules, operational updates, ETAs, and service requirements.
  • Monitor vessel movements and operational progress, adjusting schedules and resources as required to meet customer and operational needs.
  • Maintain accurate dispatch records, work orders, voyage information, crew schedules, timesheets, and other operational documentation.
  • Coordinate with the maintenance department regarding vessel availability, planned maintenance, repairs, and return-to-service schedules to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Ensure dispatch activities comply with Company policies, applicable regulations, customer requirements, and the Company's Safety Management System (SMS).
  • Promptly communicate operational issues, safety concerns, incidents, and customer matters to appropriate management and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support after-hours dispatch and emergency operational requirements, as required.
  • When qualified and required, safely operate Company water taxis to support operational activities.
  • Develop a working knowledge of the Company's marine transportation operations, including tug, barge, and log towing operations.
  • Perform other duties as reasonably assigned.

Must be able to speak clear English with good comprehension.

2 plus years of experience will be preferred.
