Full job description

In the role of Yard Support / Dispatch Support, you will be integral to the smooth operation of our logistics and transportation processes. Reporting to the Terminal Manager, you will utilize core skills such as clear communication to monitor the yards including inbound/outbound traffic as well as support driver's with equipment or load related emergencies. Join our dynamic team to contribute to a seamless dispatch environment and drive our success in the industry.

Scope of Work

1. Assist Dispatch on assigned tasks to increase help during busy times, ensure accurate, effective imputing of data, dispatching

2. Provide administrative support to the Dispatch team.

3. Support equipment by coordinating service, repairs, and supplies

4. Provide direction to yard staff and drivers as per dispatch instruction

5. Accurately and rapidly resolve issues to help mitigate delays.

6. Monitor and enforce all policies and procedures for all Slingshot Drivers, Outside Carriers and Vendors. Report all issues and challenges to Terminal Manager, Calgary

7. Ensure all equipment is being used effectively, responsibly and meets MTO/DOT safety & compliance requirements.

8. Monitor yards for any safety concerns and addressing them with Terminal Manager, Calgary for resolution

9. Support yard operation with all yard needs by; Maintaining traffic in the yard and inbound laneway, check in of all inbound carriers and coordinate assign doors, inspect inbound trailers for cleanliness, oversee all trailer moves required by customer, trailer inspections to ensure they are clean, have load bars are fueled and free of defects

10. Monitor yard operations and ensure sufficient driver resources are allocated to support customer needs

11. Ensure yard is clean, trailers are parked per policy and the yard is free from snow

12. Comply with Yard and Dock safety practices, policies, and procedures.

Qualifications:

Knowledge:

· Working knowledge in the transportation industry

· Working knowledge of equipment including tractors and trailers

· Working knowledge of Mircrosoft suite including Excel, Work & Outlook

Skills and Abilities:

· Ability to multi-task, and prioritize in a fast-paced environment

· Ability to maintain a positive working environment

· Comfortable in a setting which includes office staff, associates, and drivers

· Ability to listen, speak and communicate effectively, often in some state of distress.

· Ability to work in a team environment in high pressure situations

· Strong written and oral communication skills are essential

Other Requirements:

· Must be able to work in fast-paced, multi-dimensional and highly demanding office environment

· Ability to provide after hours and weekend support when necessary

· Reliable personal vehicle

· Dispatching experience would be an asset

· Must hold a valid Class 5 License

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $47,500.00-$57,500.00 per year
