Position Overview

dormakaba is seeking an Embedded Software Quality Assurance Specialist based in Montreal, QC. The Embedded Software Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for contributing to the quality and reliability of dormakaba’s electronic locks and access control systems. Will work closely with firmware, hardware, and software teams to validate embedded systems, APIs, and hardware interfaces.

Total Compensation Range: 95,000 $ - 110,000$ annually

What you will do


  • Design and build automated test cases for embedded firmware and hardware systems.
  • Validate dormakaba products across RFID, BLE, and secure access technologies.
  • Use lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, and power supplies to perform hardware-level testing and debugging.
  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts using Python, Java, or C/C++.
    • Support test automation using Raspberry Pi or similar platforms for firmware validation.

What we require


  • 3+ years of experience in QA testing for embedded systems or hardware-integrated products.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering or equivalent work experience
  • Proficiency in Python and/or Java for test automation.
  • Experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, signal generators, and other diagnostic tools.
  • Understanding of embedded systems, microcontrollers (e.g., STM32), and communication protocols (UART, I2C, SPI).
    • Bilingual in English and French. The incumbent must work with a global multidisciplinary team and international customers

  • Exposure to FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or other RTOS platforms.
  • Experience with TestNG, pytest, REST Assured, or similar frameworks.
  • Familiarity with Jenkins, vSphere, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of RFID, BLE, or NFC technologies.
    • Certification or equivalent is a plus.

Ce que vous ferez


  • Concevoir et développer des cas de tests automatisés pour les systèmes de firmware embarqué et de matériel informatique.
  • Valider les produits dormakaba dans les domaines des technologies RFID, BLE et d'accès sécurisé.
