The Role:

At Gusto 54, our line cooks are passionate individuals with a love of bringing great food to the people. A line cook is responsible for running a specific station in the kitchen - for example, the grill station, pasta station, or sauté station.

The primary duties of a line cook include the preparing and assembling dishes and can include a wide range of additional responsibilities.

Reports to:

Chef de Cuisine/Sous Chef

The Scope of the Role and Responsibilities are as follows:

  • Prepare food to order as specified by the Chef and guest
  • Follow recipes accurately as outlined by Chef
  • Coordinate timing of dish completion with other cooks, as directed by Chef
  • Accommodate special requests and dietary restrictions as directed by Chef
  • Station set up
  • Ensure all supplies needed for service ready for use
  • Prior to service, prep dish elements such as stocks and garnishes. This may include chopping vegetables and butchery.
  • Station clean up
  • Disposing of waste
  • Sweep and mop
  • Clean all surfaces on station
  • Store or dispose of all unused items

Skills / Experience

  • Previous experience in high volume kitchen or equivalent culinary education
  • Intermediate to advanced knife skills
  • Time management skills
  • Thorough understanding of safe food handling

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00-$26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35.0 – 44.0 per week
