Full job description

Job Description

ROM Communications is a leading provider of innovative solutions in remote telemetry equipment. We design and build complete systems that operate in remote environments, combining hardware, communication systems, and data platforms.

We’re seeking a skilled Electronics Technician to join our team. This role focuses on assembling, testing, repairing, and maintaining electronic systems, while also helping diagnose and resolve issues that occur across complete systems—not just individual components.

Responsibilities

  • Install, test, and repair electronic systems, circuits, and components
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical and system-level issues using tools such as multimeters and oscilloscopes
  • Assist in designing, prototyping, and testing new products
  • Work with complete systems to help identify where issues originate (hardware, configuration, or communication)
  • Support integration and validation of devices before deployment
  • Collaborate with team members to resolve technical issues across projects
  • Document and track maintenance, repair, and test records

Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Electronics Technology or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience in electronics assembly, repair, and/or maintenance
  • Experience soldering surface mount components
  • Strong understanding of electronic circuits and microcontroller-based systems
  • Proficiency in soldering, wiring, and PCB assembly
  • Experience with test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes)
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities

Candidates with less formal experience may be considered if they demonstrate strong hands-on ability, personal projects, or relevant practical experience.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Enjoys working hands-on with real hardware systems
  • Can troubleshoot beyond individual components and think about how complete systems behave
  • Is comfortable working in an environment where roles overlap and problems aren’t always clearly defined
  • Takes initiative and helps solve problems rather than waiting for direction
  • Has a practical, “maker” mindset—able to build, adapt, and improve solutions as needed

How We Work

We are a small, practical team with overlapping responsibilities.

  • Work often spans multiple areas rather than staying within strict roles
  • Systems are developed, deployed, and supported in real-world environments
  • We prioritize reliable, working solutions over theoretical perfection
  • Many solutions involve adapting and improving existing hardware and systems

Additional Information

  • Must have or be able to get a passport for travel to the US
  • Driver’s license preferred

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary and benefits package
  • Opportunities for professional growth and development
  • Collaborative, hands-on work environment
  • Recognition and rewards for outstanding performance
