Job Description

Controls Engineers at FPS are responsible for the complete design and implementation of fuel safety systems for large industrial and utility boilers. Responsibilities include proposal development and estimating, project management, control system design and programming, development of graphical user interfaces, system testing, and on‐site commissioning. This role is a combination of engineering, project management and system commissioning/support.

The successful candidate must have exceptional computer skills, multitask in a fast-paced environment, and execute projects with minimal supervision. Excellent organization and communication skills are a must. Past experience in utilities or pulp and paper industries, and PLC programming will be considered an asset.

Front line customer service in the form of email and phone calls is normal, as well as travel to various locations for onsite commissioning of FPS-supplied systems and equipment. Travel is typically limited to North America but other international destinations are possible. Total travel per year is estimated at 10-12 weeks.

Training will be provided to ensure all designs meet FPS standards and applicable industry codes.

Qualifications
Engineering Degree
Valid Canadian Passport is mandatory for international travel, including trips to the U.S.
Valid Canadian Driver’s License
A criminal background check will be required for access to our customer sites.
Some of our customer sites (U.S.) require drug testing.

Salary
Salary will be based on experience. FPS salaries are in line with Engineers Nova Scotia annual salary survey.
