Position Summary

Responsible for assembling cable, and wire harness through standard manufacturing practices and procedures. Ability to work independently with minimal guidance for the assembly of cable and electronic assemblies. Ability to accurately follow written assembly instructions, mechanical drawings or verbal work instructions to produce consistent workmanship to expected quality standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Read work orders, follow production instructions, drawings or sample assemblies, receive verbal instructions regarding duties to be performed.
  • Perform wire-cutting, stripping, crimping, heat-shrinking and other simple cable operations.
  • Solder wires or electronic components on harnesses and sub-assemblies, using hand tools, power tools and other equipment (as required).
  • Assist Team lead / Engineers with test or inspection activities for finished products and sub-assemblies.
  • Perform intermediate assembly tasks, such as drilling, sanding, cleaning, bonding, polishing and labelling.
  • Perform packing tasks prior to product shipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of tasks performed, deviations, and any quality concerns.
  • Adhere strictly to safety protocols while handling tools, equipment, and materials. Report any safety hazards promptly.
  • Complete in-house training to learn how to read basic blueprints and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Utilize ERP and other internal systems to close jobs and request material replenishment.
  • Meet team targets and consistently adhere to quality and safety standards.
  • Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules.
  • Work with departmental mentors to gain and apply feedback in pursuit of improved work quality.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Skills

  • 1-3 year of experience in assembly with a desire to learn cable/electrical assembly processes, follow assembly instructions, and use various hand/power tools to assemble products.
  • Proficient in performing precise and delicate tasks using hands and fingers. Able to manipulate small objects, operate tools, and handle intricate equipment effectively.
  • Good attention to detail, with the ability to determine accurate order quantities consistently.
  • Ability to work independently and meet requirements of assigned materials requests.
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to articulate information efficiently and effectively to team members in a variety of production support departments.
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to review and respond to requests via internal applications.
  • Basic math skills with the ability to calculate measurements and quantity.
  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to understand and complete requests given by team lead.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and measurement tools.
  • Ability and willingness to follow Health, Safety & Environment procedures accurately, reporting concerns promptly to the safety action team.
  • Ability to handle weights up to 45lbs.
  • Ability to distinguish colours
  • Ability to effectively use Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc).

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 5:00
