Power the Next Generation of Fracturing Technology
This is not a typical electrician position.
BJ Energy Solutions is building its Canadian Power Generation team to support the advanced electrical systems behind our mobile power-generation and electric fracturing equipment.
As a Journeyperson Electrician – Power Generation & Electric Fracturing, you will work directly with BJ’s TITAN™ fleet, mobile generators, power-distribution equipment, cable systems and related electrical technology.
You will divide your time between our Clairmont facility and field locations, helping ensure equipment is safely inspected, maintained, energized, troubleshot and ready to perform.
This opportunity is well suited to an electrician who enjoys complex equipment, field execution and solving electrical problems that go beyond conventional construction or facility maintenance.
What You Will Work On
- TITAN™ fleet electrical systems
- Mobile power-generation equipment
- Power-distribution and cable systems
- Variable-frequency drives
- Electric motors and motor-control centres
- Switchgear, breakers and control circuits
- 110 V, 240 V, 480 V and 13.8 kV systems
- AC and DC single- and three-phase power
What You Will Do
- Troubleshoot, maintain and repair industrial electrical equipment.
- Support equipment mobilization, commissioning, start-up and shutdown.
- Follow controlled isolation, verification, breaker-sequencing and energization procedures.
- Apply proper grounding, bonding, cable routing and phase-identification practices.
- Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and one-line drawings.
- Use multimeters, insulation-resistance testers, scope meters and approved diagnostic tools.
- Document findings and communicate equipment condition and repair requirements.
- Complete all work in accordance with BJ Energy Solutions’ safety requirements and Code of Conduct.
What You Bring
- Alberta Journeyperson Electrician Certificate and/or Red Seal endorsement
- At least four years of electrical experience
- Industrial AC and DC troubleshooting experience
- Strong electrical safety and hazard-control knowledge
- Ability to work independently and as part of a field team
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays during the rotation
- Valid driver’s license with no restrictions or suspensions
- Travel to client location required.
Experience with power generation, oilfield equipment, high-voltage distribution, variable-frequency drives, controls or heavy mobile equipment is an asset.
