Position Summary

The position is responsible for ensuring compliance with Ontario regulations, company policies, and any related government requirements. This role is primarily focused on electrical troubleshooting, controls, automation, and equipment reliability while also requiring strong mechanical aptitude to diagnose and repair production equipment. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining automated stamping presses, robotic systems, conveyors, feeders, and other manufacturing equipment to ensure maximum uptime and production efficiency.

1. Education & Experience:

  • Valid Ontario Maintenance Electrician License
  • Valid Ontario Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) License

2. Specific Skills / Trade or Knowledge / Other Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting and automation experience
  • Experience with PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servo systems, and industrial controls
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

3. Key Responsibilities:

  • Equipment Troubleshooting and Repair
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of production equipment, including:
  • Automated stamping presses up to 1200 tons
  • Press transfer systems and feeders
  • PLC-controlled equipment
  • Industrial robots and automation systems
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Motors, drives, sensors, relays, and control circuits
  • Conveyors and material handling equipment
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and minimize downtime through effective troubleshooting and corrective actions.

Electrical Maintenance

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and components, including:
  • PLCs and automation controls
  • Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
  • Servo systems
  • Motor control circuits
  • Safety circuits and interlocks
  • Sensors and proximity switches
  • Industrial networking and communication systems
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Support equipment upgrades, installations, and commissioning activities.
  • Mechanical Maintenance
  • Perform mechanical maintenance and repairs on manufacturing equipment, including:
  • Bearings, gearboxes, chains, belts, and couplings
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Press components and tooling support systems
  • Mechanical assemblies and machine components
  • Conduct precision alignment, assembly, and installation of equipment as required.

Preventive and Predictive Maintenance

  • Execute preventive and predictive maintenance activities to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Inspect equipment and identify potential failures before they occur.
  • Document maintenance activities and repairs using the company’s maintenance management system.
  • Recommend improvements to equipment performance and maintenance processes.

Root Cause Analysis and Continuous Improvement

  • Investigate recurring equipment failures and identify root causes.
  • Develop and implement permanent corrective actions rather than temporary fixes.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, and equipment reliability.
  • Support new equipment installations and process improvements.

4. Safety:

  • Must abide by the Occupational Health and Safety Act Regulations.
  • Must abide by all Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Must abide by the Environmental Policy along with the “3R” (reduce, reuse and recycle) procedures.
  • Must report all unsafe acts at all times.
  • Must complete all requirements as outlined in the HR Training Matrix (CRP-HRS-F001).
  • Must contribute to a safe, clean and comfortable work environment that compliments the. Occupational Health and Safety Act by ensuring the principles of the 6S discipline (simplify, separate, sanitize, standardize, support and safety) are supported and adhered to.

5. Quality:

  • Must abide by all Quality Policies and Procedures.
  • Must adhere to all customer requirements as required.
  • Must report all quality deficiencies at all times.

Pay: $42.00-$45.00 per hour
