Senior Electrical Engineer

Lead complex electrical design and shape the technical direction of our projects.

Location: Surrey, BC (Hybrid)

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Travel: Travel to project sites required as needed

Reports To: Engineering Manager / Director

Hycroft is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to act as a technical leader on our most complex projects. If you have 10+ years of industrial design experience, a track record of mentoring others, and the judgment that comes from seeing projects through from concept to commissioning, we'd love to talk.

About the Role

As a Senior Electrical Engineer at Hycroft, you will be the discipline lead on large and technically demanding projects in mining, oil & gas, and industrial sectors. You will set the technical direction, anticipate issues before they arise, and elevate the quality of work across the team.

Beyond the design itself, you will mentor intermediate and junior engineers, support proposal efforts, and partner with clients and project managers to deliver work that is safe, practical, and built to perform. This is a hybrid role based out of our Surrey, BC office.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as the lead electrical engineer on large, multi-discipline projects from FEED through commissioning
  • Set technical direction, design philosophy, and standards for the discipline on assigned projects
  • Review and approve electrical deliverables — drawings, specifications, calculations, studies, and reports
  • Anticipate complex technical issues and resolve them before they impact project delivery
  • Mentor intermediate and junior engineers; build and grow the strength of the discipline
  • Support proposal development, scope definition, and engineering man-hour estimates
  • Engage directly with clients as the senior electrical point of contact
  • Identify opportunities to improve standards, processes, and design tools across the firm

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with EGBC (or equivalent)
  • 10+ years of progressive industrial electrical design experience
  • Deep knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code, NFPA, and hazardous area classification
  • Proven experience leading multi-discipline design teams
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and client engagement skills
  • Sound judgment for resolving complex technical and project challenges

Nice to Have

  • Experience across the full project lifecycle (FEED, detailed engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning)
  • Background in low and medium voltage distribution, substations, MCCs, or power studies
  • Experience with PLC/DCS-based control systems and electrical/instrumentation integration
  • Prior involvement in proposal writing, business development, or client account management
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam, Revit, BigTime, or similar tools

Why Hycroft

  • Competitive compensation aligned with your experience and skills
  • Comprehensive extended health, dental, and vision benefits
  • Hybrid work model with flexibility to balance home and office
  • Real opportunities for growth, mentorship, and advancement
  • A strong safety culture and a team that genuinely supports each other
  • Variety of project work across oil & gas, mining, and industrial sectors
