Full job description
Why join us?
At Bombardier, we design, build and maintain the world’s peak-performing aircraft for the world’s most discerning people and businesses, governments and militaries. We have been successful in setting the highest standards by putting our people at the heart of it all, and defining excellence, together.
Providing services to Bombardier means operating at the highest level. Every day, you are part of a team that delivers superior experiences and products, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in our industry and beyond. By prioritizing continuous growth and development, we empower everyone to reach their full potential on their own terms, because the greatest results happens when you are free to be yourself and share your unique expertise.
What are your contributions to the team?
- Generate aerodynamic solutions using CFD software in support of Flight Sciences, Loads & Dynamics, Thermodynamics, and Systems requirements. Your role will also include the liaison of activities with these engineering groups.
- Produce estimates of external pressure distributions, aerodynamic loads and stability derivatives for specific Bombardier products and validate these results with experimental data.
- Develop complex CFD workflows applicable to aircraft designs, aircraft stability and control analysis, aerodynamic loads calculations or aero-structural multi-disciplinary optimization.
- Contribute to the development of various tools for CFD results analysis.
- Improve the efficiency of our numerical optimization algorithm by tuning input parameters and validate the new capabilities by optimizing various aircraft configurations.
- Develop novel mesh generation, deformation and adaptation techniques, CAD-free and/or CAD-centered, compatible with in-house software and/or commercially available grid generation packages.
- Predict aircraft drag, low-speed characteristics and stall onset using CFD.
- Generate wing structural models and perform static aero-elastic analyses.
- Prepare and participate in various wind-tunnel tests, support to results analysis and documentation.
- Model simple surfaces and create CAD parametric models with Catia v5 or NX.
How to thrive in this role?
- you have a Master’s or a Ph.D. degree in Engineering with specialization in CFD;
- you have completed the Bombardier ECAP (Engineering Carrer Acceleration Path) program;
- you have 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in aerodynamic applications;
- you have knowledge of compressible Navier-Stokes methods, external aerodynamics, applied aerodynamics in the area of stability & control and aerodynamic loads calculations;
- you have knowledge of aerodynamic shape optimization techniques;
- you have knowledge of mesh generation tools (Pointwise) and CAD (preferably CATIA v5 or NX);
- you have knowledge of UNIX/LINUX and HPC best practices;
- you have experience with coding in Python, shell script programming;
- you have good communication skills in both French and English;
- you are eligible to work on International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) projects;
