Full job description

Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Youth Worker to join our team. This role is pivotal in providing support and guidance to young individuals, helping them navigate challenges and develop essential life skills. The ideal candidate will have experience in caregiving and a strong understanding of the needs of youth, particularly those facing emotional or behavioral difficulties. Experience with implementing behaviour support plans, plan of care goals and CYC diploma an asset.

Duties

  • Assist young individuals in developing personal care plans tailored to their specific needs.
  • Provide support in daily activities, including meal preparation and hygiene routines.
  • Engage youth in behaviour management strategies to promote positive interactions and emotional well-being.
  • Facilitate recreational activities that encourage social skills and teamwork.
  • Administer medication as required, ensuring compliance with care plans.
  • Maintain accurate records of progress and incidents, contributing to case management documentation.
  • Collaborate with families, educators, and other professionals to create a supportive environment for youth.
  • Provide first aid when necessary and ensure a safe environment for all participants.
  • Drive youth to appointments or activities as needed.

Experience
Candidates should possess relevant experience in caregiving or support roles, particularly within settings such as care homes, or assisted living facilities. Familiarity with medical terminology, autism, developmental disabilities, is advantageous. The ability to perform heavy lifting may be required when assisting individuals with mobility challenges. A valid driving license is required for transporting youth. Experience in case management and behaviour management will be highly regarded.
