ABA Education Assistant / Special Needs Assisant for Children with Autism

Contract Position - Part time or Full time / Flexible Scheduling

Nexus Therapy is looking for skilled Education Assistants to provide aba support to children in the home setting. Candidates are responsible for implementing treatment plans for school age children, and adolescents (ages 0-18) under BCBA supervision. Positions available in Orleans, Kanata and Ottawa are in-home.

Work full time or part time over the summer and after school hours during the school year.

Starting rate: $60.00 per visit / 2 hours

  • Day time visits are a minimum of 3 hrs from 9-12 or 1-4 pm
  • After school sessions are a minimum of 2 hrs from 4:30-6:30 pm
  • Weekend visits are optional / 3 hr minimum

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement the ABA program related to the needs and goals of the client under BCBA supervision
  • Support client goals through implementing strategies and monitoring progress.
  • Data Collection and communication with BCBA.
  • Maintain a good rapport with the interdisciplinary team, including the family.
  • Create and maintain a healthy and positive environment for the client to promote progress.
  • Provide consultation and education to the family regarding the client's needs and goals.
  • Create optimal opportunities for learning by including the family into the therapy sessions.
  • Candidates must adhere to the policies and procedures of the company.

Qualifications:

  • Educational and or Clinical background in applied behavioural analysis
  • Experience implementing ABA teaching strategies with children ASD and learning disabilities.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills along with strong organizational abilities.
  • Enthusiastic with the ability to connect with children and work successfully within the team.
  • Independent, self motivated, yet willing to accept guidance and feedback from Supervisors.
  • Valid Drivers License and access to vehicle during working hours.
  • Available to work after school hours.
