Location: Olds, AB | Shift: Full-Time | Monday–Thursday, 5:00 AM – 3:30 PM

ProAll International Manufacturing Ltd., located in Olds, AB, A Terex Brand is seeking a Mild Steel Apprentice Welder. As Mild Steel Welder, you will be responsible for joining steel parts and components using welding techniques. This position will be working with mild steel materials in various thicknesses and sizes, using GMAW, FCAW and MCAW. Qualifications:

  • Current welding apprentice or someone willing to indenture into the trade within first 3 months of employment.
  • Experience in GMAW processes and working with mild steel
  • Knowledge of welding principles, techniques, and equipment
  • Experience in plasma and torch cutting
  • Aluminum GTAW would be an asset but not required
  • FCAW and MCAW would be an asset but not required
  • Intermediate blueprint reading and interpretation skills
  • Self-motivated and can work well under limited supervision
  • Time management and organizational skills
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Team oriented, supportive, positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Mentoring and coaching skills are considered an asset
  • Able to work safely in a fast-paced environment
  • Think and react to changing conditions as needed
  • Attention to detail and ability to work accurately and precisely
  • Physical dexterity and strength to handle welding equipment and materials
  • Ability to rivet some assemblies prior to welding
  • Flexible to accommodate varying shift times, if necessary
  • Physically fit

Responsibilities:

  • Work in a manufacturing setting in a clean and well-equipped welding shop
  • Clean and prepare joints for welding, maintain welding whips and machine, position welding required for some parts in the shop.
  • GMAW is the main welding process
  • Follow work orders and weld assemblies to specifications
  • Follow all safety protocols, wear appropriate PPE and maintain integrity
  • Monitor the welding process to ensure the quality and consistency of the welds
  • Interpret work orders, drawings and complete all documentation accurately
  • Ensure quality work is done in a timely and efficient manner
  • Follow up with supervisors to communicate status of equipment being worked on
  • Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times and streamline work related processes
  • Perform daily safety and maintenance checks
