Optiprint Service, a Canada-wide SR&ED consulting firm serving the print, packaging, imaging, and software industries, is looking for an experienced Technical Writer with software development knowledge and proven SR&ED writing experience.

The Role

You will work directly with software developers, engineers, and technical production personnel to understand development projects and prepare clear, well-supported technical narratives for Canadian SR&ED claims which include eligibility to the program requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conduct interviews with production & technical personnel and project teams
  • Identify technological uncertainties, hypotheses, experimentation, and results
  • Assess software projects against SR&ED technical eligibility requirements
  • Prepare technical narratives and supporting documentation
  • Assist with CRA reviews and technical inquiries
  • Organize project records and supporting evidence

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience preparing SR&ED technical documentation is essential
  • Strong understanding of CRA SR&ED technical eligibility requirements
  • Background in software development, software engineering, systems analysis, or technical writing
  • Excellent interviewing, analytical, and technical writing skills
  • Ability to understand complex software and technology projects
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects

Experience with AI, automation, cloud systems, software integration, MIS/ERP, web-to-print, manufacturing software, printing & packaging or digital workflows is an asset.

Experience in the print, packaging, imaging, or visual communications industries will be considered as a prime asset.

Engagement

Flexible contract position, primarily remote, with occasional client/site visits. Travel expenses will be compensated where applicable.

Compensation: Based on experience, qualifications, and project volume.

Pay: $150.00-$170.00 per hour

Expected hours: 2.0 – 20.0 per week
