Job Overview
Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) Representative
The Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Representative is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing FCi's health and safety program across all lines of business. The role owns the company's OHS management system, regulatory compliance, incident prevention, safety culture, and the ongoing maintenance of FCi's Certificate of Recognition (COR™).
Working closely with operations, project management, HR, and leadership, the OHS Representative ensures that on-site practices, training, and polices align with federal and provincial legislation (including Ontario's OHSA and applicable regulations in other jurisdictions where FCi operates), COR™ program requirements, and FCi's operational standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve FCi's OH&S (policies, procedures, and safe work practices)
- Provide OH&S documentation in support of projects
- Manage and maintain FCi's COR™ certification
- Ensure compliance with the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act, applicable provincial legislation, WSIB requirements, and client/site-specific safety standards
- Lead hazard identification, risk assessments, and job safety analyses (JSAs)
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and toolbox talks at active project locations and FCi facilities
- Manage incident reporting, investigation, root-cause analysis, and corrective action follow-through
- Coordinate and deliver employee safety training (WHMIS, working at heights, ladder/lift safety, lock-out/tag-out, first aid, etc.) and maintain training records aligned with COR™ requirements
- Administer FCi's Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC), including meetings, minutes, and action tracking
- Oversee personal protective equipment (PPE) standards, procurement guidance, and field compliance
- Assist in managing WSIB claims, return-to-work programs, and modified duties in partnership with HR
- Support prequalification submissions (e.g., ISNetworld, SafeContractor, Avetta, etc.) and respond to client safety documentation requests
- Utilize FCi's safety management platform to ensure safety compliance, eliminate paperwork, and keep the workforce audit-ready
- Partner with Team Leads and field supervisors to integrate safety planning into the project lifecycle from kickoff through closeout
- Track and report on leading and lagging safety KPIs (TRIR, near misses, training completion, audit scores, COR™ action item status) to the executive team
- Stay current on regulatory changes, COR™ program updates, and industry best practices, advising leadership on required updates to policy or practice
Required Qualifications
- 1-3 years of OH&S experience, preferably in construction, AV/low-voltage, electrical, security integration, or a related trades-based environment
- CRST (Canadian Registered Safety Technician) designation or actively working toward it
- COR™ Internal Auditor certification (or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire)
- Experience maintaining COR™ certification (or equivalent OHSAS/ISO 45001 safety management system)
- In-depth knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act, Construction Projects Regulation (O. Reg. 213/91), and WSIB processes
- Demonstrated experience building and managing an OHS management system across multi-site operations
- Proven ability to lead incident investigations and implement effective corrective actions
- Working at Heights, JHSC Certification (Parts 1 & 2), and Standard First Aid/CPR certifications
- Experience with contractor prequalification platforms (ISNetworld, SafeContractor, Avetta, etc)
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams) for documentation, reporting, and training delivery
- Excellent communication, coaching, and influencing skills with the ability to engage technicians, supervisors, and executives
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to FCi project sites as needed
- Ability to work independently while managing competing priorities across multiple concurrent projects
Pay: $65,000.00-$75,000.00 per year

- Extended health care
- Life insurance
- On-site parking
- Paid time off
