Overview

Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Casual Operating Room and/or Recovery Nurse, where your expertise will directly impact patient outcomes and comfort. In this role, you will provide exceptional nursing care in perioperative settings, ensuring smooth transitions from preoperative preparation through postoperative recovery. This position offers flexible scheduling to accommodate your availability while maintaining high standards of patient care.

Duties

  • Assist in preparing patients for surgery by reviewing medical histories, verifying consent, and ensuring proper documentation.
  • Monitor patients closely during recovery, managing pain and vital signs with precision and compassion.
  • Administer medications safely, including analgesics and sedatives, following strict protocols and medical terminology guidelines.
  • Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure sterile procedures are maintained and assist with equipment setup and sterilization processes.
  • Conduct patient assessments post-surgery, providing education on discharge instructions, medication administration, and follow-up care.
  • Document all nursing interventions accurately and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Requirements

  • Valid nursing license with current registration; experience working in hospital settings preferred.
  • Proven experience in acute care environments, including operating rooms or recovery units
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medication administration protocols, and pain management strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with healthcare teams and educate patients about their care plans.
