Male Child & Youth Engagement Worker

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Family Preservation Team Leader, the Engagement Worker will be responsible for providing support to families, children and youth as identified through the Child Welfare Process. Engagement Workers will assist clients that may or may not be affected with FASD, ARBD, mental illness, addictions and/or family violence, as well as addressing the provision of concrete services as outlines below, as well as other related tasks assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities:

To identify and assess problems sources and assist in case management.

Provide education and support for clients in all aspects involving social skills, life skills, and parenting skills.

To ensure that the basin needs of children are being met by providing appropriate levels of structure, supervision, and support to families,

Assisting families to empower themselves to meet the needs of their children To be familiar with and abide by policies set forth by the agency.

Must maintain confidentiality at all times.

To participate in additional training as assigned by the Early Intervention Team Leader

Be sensitive to individual children's differences and needs, and be willing to adjust planning daily Provide educational, cultural teachings and/or opportunities, interact with children to encourage their involvement

To ensure that the basic needs of children are being met by providing appropriate levels of structure, supervision, and support of families.

Assisting families to empower themselves to meet the needs of their children and become more self-sufficient within their means.

Provide homemaking, transportation, and assisting families in accessing appropriate services and programs.

Assistance in connecting family and natural supports.

Cultural connections

Identify appropriate community connections for clients.

Provide awareness and access to positive community resources and supports. Perform administrative tasks (report writing, case conferencing, etc.) To be familiar and abide by the policies set forth by the agency.

Provide aftercare, support, and follow-up upon discharge. Must maintain confidentiality at all times.

Reporting Line: Child & Youth Engagement Worker is directly accountable to the Family Preservation Supervisor

Rate of Pay: $20.60-$28.75/hour — wage based on education and experience.

Qualifications:

Degree/Diploma in Human Services, and/or related experience

Must possess a valid driver's license (class 5) and reliable vehicle, (class 4 preferred or willing to obtain)

Current Drivers Abstract & (Claims Experience Letter —Vehicle Insurance)

Cultural knowledge considered an asset

Excellent written & oral communications skills.

Ability to work flexible/on-call hours

Knowledge of Indigenous culture and language

Must submit Child Welfare and Criminal Records check, Six (6) months current

First Aid/CPR & Suicide Intervention Training an asset
