Earls Kitchen + Bar is seeking a collaborative, creative, and motivated Junior Interior Designer from a CIDA Accredited Interior Design Program to join our Store Development team in Vancouver, BC.
In this role, you’ll play a key part in the Store Development Project Team, assisting with AutoCAD floor plans, design presentation materials, SketchUp modeling, and construction drawings. This is a unique opportunity to work on innovative hospitality design projects in a collaborative environment with clear pathways for professional growth.
At Earls, we pride ourselves on being authentic and approachable—values reflected in the people we hire, the food and drinks we prepare, and the locations we create. If you’re a progressive thinker passionate about design and architecture, we’d love to hear from you!
Role Responsibilities
- Execute site-specific design visions by assisting and/or creating design presentation materials, SketchUp models, floor plans, construction drawings, and material/vendor research.
- Find efficiencies in FF&E and millwork packages through research, specification selection, installation documentation, and leadership of outside consultants and vendors.
- Present design intent and articulate reasoning for design choices to stakeholders, building confidence and engagement in the process.
- Engage and collaborate with external consultants to execute construction drawings.
- Execute floor plans, scoping documents, Construction Drawing Packages, Architectural handoffs, FF&E packages, etc. with the support of the Manager, Design.
- Manage on-site coordination of FF&E installation, landscaping, merchandising, professional photography, and dimming, including overnight installations when required.
- Innovate and improve the renovation process while taking ownership of design templates and tools, including Custom FF&E.
- Collaborate with the Facilities Team to provide design intent and specifications for capital expenditure projects.
- Ability to work outside standard business hours as required to lead installations, overnight work, and key project milestones.
- Ability to travel throughout North America as required to oversee projects and lead designers through projects.
- Demonstrate commitment to continued education and self-discovery around DE&I, the Earls Environmental North Star, and Earls attributes.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design from a CIDA-Accredited Program.
- 1-3 years of work experience in hospitality or commercial design.
- Ability to manage and execute multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Proficient in sourcing, specifying & detailing hospitality millwork, finishes and FF&E.
- Experience with Enscape or other rendering software is an asset.
- Experience producing high-quality contract documents & construction drawings.
- Working knowledge of Canadian and North American Building Codes.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Enscape, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present design concepts confidently.
- Detail-oriented, highly organized, and self-motivated.
- Willingness and availability to travel across North America.
