Role Overview

We are immediately hiring a Sr. Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Engineer to fill an active, critical vacancy within our Functional Engineering Department. Reporting directly to the Engineering EMC Section Chief, you will play a multifaceted role in ensuring aircraft safety against complex internal and external electromagnetic threats.

The EMC team is responsible for protecting our fleet against Electromagnetic Interference (EMI), High-Intensity Radiated Fields (HIRF), Low-Intensity Radiated Fields (LIRF), Lightning, and Electrostatic Charge, ensuring all aircraft meet stringent global regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analysis & Assessment: Execute complex engineering assignments, performing detailed EMI, HIRF, LIRF, Lightning, and electrostatics analyses using similarity assessments, simulation, and analytical methods.
  • Issue Resolution: Help drive the resolution of electromagnetic-related issues to support EMC certification and sustaining activities for both production and in-service aircraft.
  • Project Planning: Define the scope of work and EMC effort for engineering projects, plan activities/milestones, highlight technical risks, and complete tasks according to priorities.
  • Compliance & Design Review: Analyze new or modified system/structure designs to assess technical impacts and propose EMC compliance approaches. Review and verify associated documentation (test procedures, test reports, analysis reports) for certification approval.
  • Testing & Witnessing: Prepare/review aircraft-level EMI/HIRF/LIRF/Lightning test procedures, oversee testing, and generate test reports. Support and witness EMC tests locally and internationally (Canada, US, Europe, etc.) as needed.
  • Reporting: Support the creation and updating of technical requirements and prepare Certification Design Compliance Reports.
  • Cross-Functional Representation: Represent the EMC team at multidisciplinary meetings and engage effectively with internal/external suppliers, partners, and clients.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Education: Degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Sciences, or Physics.
  • Experience: A minimum of eight (8) years of hands-on working experience with systems or structures EMC qualification/certification specifically within the aerospace industry.
  • Regulatory & Standards Expertise: In-depth knowledge of relevant industry standards (RTCA/DO-160, SAE ARPs) and high-level familiarity with airworthiness regulations and advisory materials (TCCA, FAA, EASA) pertaining to EMC.
  • Subject Matter Expert: Recognized by your peers as a resource in the EMC field, holding specialist-level knowledge in at least one aspect of EMC alongside a broad understanding of the complete discipline.
  • Risk Management: Proven experience participating in major project and design reviews, with the ability to proactively identify technical, schedule, and budget risks related to EMC.
  • Asset: Experience with fuel tank ignition prevention is considered a strong asset.

What We Offer

  • Salary Range: $100,000 - $120,000 CAD per annum (inclusive of any bonuses or variable pay—rate is flexible for the right profile).
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Comprehensive medical, vision, and dental insurance.
