Maintenance Team Member

The Skylon Tower is looking to fill the role of Seasonal Maintenance Team Member.

Job Summary: As a member of the Maintenance Department, you will be responsible for the on-going maintenance of the building, the building’s systems, and property grounds. This will include conducting minor equipment repairs, painting, basic carpentry, basic plumbing, and basic electrical.

Shifts: Days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Job Type: Full-Time - 40 hrs - Seasonal (approx season March-October)

Compensation: $19 to $20 per hour, based on experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the property is maintained and is safe for both guests and employees
  • Ensure maintenance/repair services level is maintained to include electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, HVAC, structural, facilities, ground, and parking areas.
  • Ensure timely response to requests for service by guests, employees, and management to include repair or replacement of all interior fixtures and furnishings.
  • Ensure implementation of ongoing Preventive Maintenance program.
  • Maintain emergency procedures and equipment and assist with the implementation of all emergency procedures for the safety of all guests and employees.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area free of hazards.
  • Ensure that all public areas are clean and orderly, including picking up debris or garbage.
  • Maintain departmental communication.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years ‘hands on’ general institutional or industrial building maintenance experience is preferred.
  • Plumbing, electrical, and/or mechanical experience a definite asset.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to multi-task and establish priorities.
  • High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize a diverse workload.
  • Must be available to work evenings and weekends.
