Full job description

Inter-Rail Transport (IRT) is growing, and we’re looking for an Operations Supervisor to support our Kamloops branch. This is a hands-on leadership role, working alongside the Branch Manager to keep operations running smoothly, support our drivers and dispatch team, and build strong client relationships.

This role sits at the center of everything we do; connecting office, field, and client to ensure work is executed safely, efficiently, and profitably.

What You’ll Do

Support Daily Operations

  • Assist the Branch Manager with day-to-day operations and resource planning
  • Coordinate with dispatch, drivers, and field teams to keep jobs moving
  • Help solve problems in real time (delays, breakdowns, changing scopes)
  • Maintain clear visibility on all active jobs and ensure expectations are met

Quoting, Estimating & Billing

  • Prepare quotes and estimates aligned with company pricing and margin targets
  • Ensure all job documentation is complete and ready for billing
  • Support accurate, timely invoicing and month-end processes

Client Relations & Growth

  • Act as a key point of contact for clients
  • Manage expectations, resolve issues, and maintain strong relationships
  • Identify opportunities within existing accounts and support new business efforts

Field & Fleet Support

  • Provide support to field operations as needed (site visits, coordination, troubleshooting)
  • Ensure jobs are executed to company standards for safety and quality

Driver Leadership

  • Support hiring, onboarding, and training of drivers
  • Coach performance and address issues when needed
  • Help build and maintain a strong, team-first culture

What We’re Looking For

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in a similar role within transportation, logistics, or heavy haul
  • Strong trucking background; Class 1 license considered an asset
  • Experience with dispatch, permitting, and/or heavy haul operations is preferred

  • Strong problem-solving ability in fast-paced environments
  • Confident communicator with both clients and field teams
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and accountable
  • Leadership mindset with a willingness to step in wherever needed
  • Ability to read and review basic budget and accounting statements is an asset
  • Must be able to travel out of town as needed
