Experienced Underground Diamond Drilling Supervisor

Company: Kyle Drilling Inc.
Job Type: Full-Time, Project-Based
Project Location: Ontario
Schedule: Rotational schedule, including day and night shifts
Compensation: Competitive hourly rate based on experience

Position Overview

Kyle Drilling Inc. is seeking an experienced Supervisor for an upcoming mineral exploration drilling program in Ontario.

The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating underground diamond drilling equipment, supervising the drill crew, maintaining strong core recovery and production, and completing daily drilling documentation. This position requires a dependable and safety-focused individual with proven experience completing mineral exploration drill holes in varying ground conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate surface diamond drilling equipment
  • Complete NQ and HQ diamond drill holes to the required depth, orientation and technical specifications.
  • Direct and supervise drillers & drill helpers during drilling, rod handling, moves and equipment servicing.
  • Monitor drilling parameters, water circulation, core recovery and changing ground conditions.
  • Identify and correct drilling problems such as blocked tubes, lost circulation, unstable formations, deviation and equipment malfunctions.
  • Complete casing installation, hole stabilization and abandonment procedures when required.
  • Conduct pre-operational inspections and routine preventive maintenance.
  • Maintain the drill, pumps, rods, tooling and work area in safe operating condition.
  • Accurately complete daily drill reports, inspection forms, production records and safety documentation.
  • Participate in toolbox meetings, field-level risk assessments and incident-prevention activities.
  • Follow company and client requirements relating to environmental protection, spill prevention and drill-cuttings management.
  • Assist with drill moves and site setup using tracked support equipment.
  • Maintain professional communication with supervisors, geological personnel and other project representatives.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of three years of experience operating a surface diamond drill.
  • Demonstrated experience drilling NQ and HQ mineral exploration holes.
  • Strong knowledge of drill rods, core barrels, bits, reaming shells, casing systems and drilling fluids.
  • Experience working in broken, fractured, faulted or water-sensitive ground conditions.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic and drilling-related problems.
  • Previous experience operating a Marcotte MST1500 or comparable underground diamond drill is preferred.
  • Ability to safely supervise and train drill helpers.
  • Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work rotational schedules, extended shifts, weekends and night shifts.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work in changing outdoor weather conditions.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety, environmental protection and professional conduct.
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.
