Position Summary:

The Longhole Drill/Blast Miner is responsible for safely drilling and loading production holes in an underground hard rock mining environment while meeting production targets and maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality. This role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate longhole production drilling equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Drill production rings in accordance with engineering layouts and mine plans.
  • Load production holes and perform blasting activities where qualified and authorized.
  • Conduct pre-operational inspections and perform basic equipment maintenance.
  • Identify and report ground control, ventilation, and workplace hazards.
  • Maintain accurate production records and complete required documentation.
  • Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and underground crews to achieve production goals.

Qualifications:

  • Underground Hard Rock Miner Common Core with specialty modules, where applicable.
  • Minimum 2 years of underground hard rock mining experience operating longhole drills.
  • Experience with production drilling; blasting experience is considered an asset.
  • Ability to read and interpret mine plans, layouts, and drilling patterns.
  • Strong commitment to safe work practices and regulatory compliance.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to identify basic equipment issues.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver's licence and legal authorization to work in Canada.

Compensation: $50 - $80 per hour, based on experience, plus daily living allowance and accommodations provided where applicable.

Schedule: 7/7 with 10-hour rotating day and night shifts.
