INTERMEDIATE/SENIOR mechanical designer (HVAC/Plumbing/Drain/Controls/Energy)

VIRTUAL OFFICE - WORK FROM HOME

Opportunity to join a mid-sized, well established Mechanical Engineering Design firm with an advanced mechanical design team in the Building Services Construction market sector serving the GTA, Ontario, Canada and the Southern USA. We provide mechanical system survey, audit, energy modelling, system design, retro-fit, construction management and commissioning engineering services in the commercial, retail, industrial and institutional sectors with a well established Client base.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Mechanical Systems Design including HVAC, plumbing and drainage and fire protection for institutional, commercial, retail and industrial building services applications.
  • Working with Senior Engineer as part of engineering design team.
  • Developing design criteria and conceptual mechanical designs with the Client, including feasibility analysis.
  • Work closely with the project team and client to define project scope of work, conceptual design and applicable mechanical systems application.
  • Development and execution of Project Programming, Schematic and Design Documentation preparation and Administration/Execution of the project design with the design team.
  • Complete project designs on schedule and in conjunction with other project team (internal and external) engineers, designers, architects and project managers.
  • Construction field review and observations, commissioning support, problem solving skills.
  • Review and submission of Code and Regulatory documentation; review of operations and maintenance documentation.
  • Provide Project Engineering support to Project Construction management team during implementation.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Post-secondary Education: 4-year degree in related field and P. ENG. designation or qualified E.I.T., or 3-year college diploma and CET/CTech designation in a related mechanical design environment.
  • Previous experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer/Technologist in a mechanical design engineering firm with a minimum of 8 years experience is mandatory.
  • Previous experience with Mechanical Building Systems Design in any of the following specialties:

--HVAC systems

--Plumbing and Drainage

--Fire Protection

  • Familiarity with Canadian Federal and Provincial Codes as well as US (FL) building and hurricane codes.
  • Confident and effective Communicator in all formats (email, phone and face-to-face)
  • Competency in report preparation, technical memorandums, and engineering briefs.
  • Strong and proven Time Management / Organizational / Interpersonal/ Personal time mgmt. skills.
  • Ability to work independently (self-starter) and to independently resource technical information.
  • Competency in computer skills including: MS Office (WORD, Excel, PowerPoint, publisher) AutoCAD and/or REVIT, HAP, and proprietary equipment selection software.
