Full job description

High Tails Pet Resort has a opening for a permanent full time Animal Care Attendant. We are looking for a devoted team player who thrives in a collaborative environment, a believer in high quality care—with the experience and know-how to make it happen.

At High Tails we specialize in stress reduction, disease control and superior client service. We work with all breeds, sizes and temperaments. We are located in Rocky View County (5km east of Cross Iron Mills) so you will need your own reliable transportation to and from our work site.

We are looking for a candidate with open availability including weekends.

Qualifications:

  • Previous professional experience in the pet industry; hands on working with canines in a professional setting
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Understand the basics of animal body language and behaviour
  • Attentive to the individual needs of the animals in your care
  • Detail oriented and precise
  • Focused and does not get easily distracted in a highly distracting environment
  • Team player
  • Are physically able to stand for long periods of time, bend and lift up to 60 lbs
  • Be able to safely move, examine and interact with dogs of all sizes including dogs that are over 100 lbs
  • Proven reliability, punctuality, and low absenteeism
  • Available all holidays including Canada Day, August long weekend, and Labour day weekend.
  • Are able to work in a fast paced environment
  • Great communication skills - ability to read and write excellent English is a must
  • Ability to operate with limited supervision
  • Valid driver’s license and own vehicle

Responsibilities:

  • Feed and water animals at per-determined meal times
  • Keep the daycare and lodging facilities clean
  • Understand the needs of each individual animal to better assist with their care
  • Immediately and accurately update the manager on duty of any change in behaviour, and/or health status
  • Correctly fill out any charting that is required to keep track of the animals’ progress
  • Facilitate play sessions both group and individual
  • Provide exemplary customer service to our clients

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00-$18.00 per hour
