Mills Family Law

Family Lawyer

North Vancouver, BC | Fully Remote with Shared Office Spaces

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced family lawyer to join our growing practice. This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer who values autonomy, flexibility, and a collaborative team environment. You will manage your own caseload independently while benefiting from the support and expertise of our established team.

About Us

We are a boutique family law firm located on the North Shore, serving clients throughout the Greater Vancouver area. Our team currently consists of two experienced lawyers, two paralegals, and a legal assistant. We currently operate as a fully remote practice with access to professional shared office spaces in North Vancouver and Downtown Vancouver for client meetings.

Our practice focuses on settlement and alternative dispute resolution, turning to litigation only when necessary. We pride ourselves on providing compassionate, client-centered legal services while maintaining a healthy work-life balance for our team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a diverse caseload of family law matters independently, including divorce, separation agreements, child custody and access, parenting arrangements, property division, and spousal and child support
  • Provide strategic legal advice to clients with empathy and professionalism
  • Draft and review separation agreements, court applications, affidavits, and other legal documents
  • Negotiate settlements and participate in mediation, collaborative law processes, and other forms of alternative dispute resolution
  • Collaborate with team members on complex files and practice development

Qualifications

Required:

  • Member in good standing with the Law Society of British Columbia with a minimum of 3 years of call
  • Strong written and oral advocacy skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite

Preferred:

  • Family law experience (though not mandatory)
  • Existing client base or business development experience

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive compensation structure
  • Hybrid compensation model
  • Comprehensive benefits (health, dental, extended health) available after successful completion of 3-month probationary period
  • Flexible work schedule with fully remote work arrangement
  • Professional development opportunities
  • Collaborative and supportive team culture

Work Environment

Our firm operates on a fully remote basis, giving you the flexibility to work from your home office. We maintain professional shared office spaces in both North Vancouver and Downtown Vancouver, which are available for client meetings, mediations, and team collaboration as needed. This arrangement provides the best of both worlds: the flexibility of remote work combined with professional spaces for face-to-face client interactions.
