We are looking for a Content Developer in our Family Education Program!
Closing Date: July 30th, 2026
Part-time Contract: From September 1st to November 30th, 2026, 17 Hours per Week, Evening Hours and Weekends are required
Hourly Rate $ 28.58 per hour.
Location: The successful candidate will work from the Aurora Office located at 15150 Yonge Street, Suite 201Aurora, Ontario, L4G 1M2 and travel for client visits, with regular travel in York Region.
Job Profile:
The Content Developer will design and develop 5 self-guided (asynchronous) courses focused on supporting families and caregivers of individuals experiencing mental health challenges across diverse age groups and populations. This will include short-term videos and a ‘caregiver learning library’ that includes modules and downloadable guides
breaking down key topics such as burnout, boundaries, and crisis signs. These courses are intended to enhance accessibility by allowing participants to engage with the material at their own pace and on their own schedule. These courses are designed to strengthen the well-being of caregivers and families supporting a loved one with mental illness. It aims to build knowledge, while enhancing resilience and coping skills needed to navigate the complexities of caregiving
Duties:
- Develop a project plan that is within scope, budget, and schedule based on duties listed in the Position Summary. Finalize with Program Manager and Director of Service
- Engage individuals with lived experience in development of all resources, materials and courses
- Develop a needs assessment survey in collaboration with the Support Group Coordinator
- Seek input from and collaborate with the Support Group Coordinator, Program Manager and Director of Service for feedback in developing all materials, resources and courses.
- Create one prototype or draft of each resource and send to the Support Group Coordinator, Program Manager and Director of Service for feedback
- Incorporate feedback from the Community Connections Team, individuals with lived experience, and the Client and Family Advisory Committee (CFAC) in the development of all materials, resources and courses
- Consult with the Director of Services for approval for any possible changes to the requirements of the project
- Create pre- and post-evaluations that will determine improvement of knowledge.
- Utilize CMHA’s client experience survey
- Incorporate pre- and post-evaluations and client experience survey in all materials and courses.
- Assist in producing printable checklists (crisis planning, appointment prep, caregiver self-checks), conversation scripts (how to talk to a loved one, doctor, employer) and boundary-setting templates.
- Use the online learning platform, LearnWorlds, to create the webinar/video series that is interactive and evidence-informed, caters to youth, adults, and different learners, and applies adult learning principles. LearnWorlds will house all materials and resources created
- Engage families/caregivers by developing a needs assessment survey in collaboration and obtaining feedback on drafted contents. The results of the engagement process will inform the final topics for the webinar/video series.
Requirements:
- Post-secondary education is required.
- Knowledge of core mental health care practices
- Knowledge of issues families face in caring and supporting a person with mental illness.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Health or Social Services is considered an asset.
- Experience with eLearning Development and Learning Management Systems (LMS) is preferred
- Experience working in a not-for-profit organization is considered an asset.
- 2-3 years of content, resource and course creation is preferred
- Excellent computer skills required, including Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong analytical and organization skills.
- Strong process, detail, communication, and customer service skills.
- Excellent coaching and mentoring skills.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communications skills, both written and oral.
- Team player who fosters a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, and ability to provide recommendations/solutions.
- Additional language with excellent verbal, written and reading comprehension is preferred.
- Language Skills: Ability to read, write and speak English fluently is required. Fluency in one of the languages of populations served is highly desired
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and cooperatively in a team environment.
- Ability to treat sensitive information in a confidential manner.
- Ability to discuss performance management issues with sensitivity and tactfulness
