Optometric Assistant & Receptionist

We’re looking for a friendly outgoing individual to join our team as an optometric assistant and receptionist. We are a busy 4-doctor optometry practice located in Kingsway Mall that’s open 7 days a week. You will be responsible for coordinating appointments, greeting patients, running preliminary tests, auxiliary testing, and assisting the doctor with various day-to-day clinic functions

Attention to detail and exceptional communication skills are essential to excel in this position. Experience in the optical or eye care industry is not required, but would be an asset. Training will be provided to the successful candidate(s), to ensure a smooth and successful start with our organization.

The ability to assist people in a friendly manner and communicate with your co-workers is a must. This position is best suited to someone who can work well alone and multitask. This job is a combination of one-to-one patient interaction, paperwork and hands-on testing.

This position can either be part-time or full-time. Depending on the candidate this can be a great job opportunity for part-time students attending Grant MacEwan and Nait. The wage range for this position is $18.50-$21.50, depending on past work experience. Our part-time positions offer availability for early evenings, Saturdays and Sundays.   • Preliminary testing of patients
  • Preparing exam rooms
  • Preparing exam charts & scanning
  • Reception and telephone handling
  • Scheduling and recalling patients for eye exams & other services
  • Specialized testing procedures
  • Billing Alberta Health Care & other insurance plans
  • Ordering contact lenses
  • Training contact lens patients
  • Keeping the office clean and tidy
  • Assisting the doctors as required
