We are looking for a Business Development Representative - Defense & Government (Eastern Canada)

Reporting to the Regional Sales Manager, a successful candidate will possess the skills:

  • Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships with government, defense, and public-sector stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to develop strategic accounts and manage complex sales opportunities from identification through contract award.
  • Experience navigating government procurement processes and long sales cycles.
  • Strong business acumen, analytical thinking, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to understand complex customer requirements and translate them into effective solutions.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and capable of working independently while collaborating effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated success in business development, account management, and strategic sales.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with senior decision-makers, procurement officials, industry partners, and prime contractors.

What We Expect?

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Public Administration, Military Studies, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and technical certifications.
  • 3+ experience in business development, sales, or account management within Defense, Government, Public Safety, Telecommunications, Security, Critical Infrastructure, or related sectors.
  • Experience selling to Federal Government departments, Crown Corporations, Defense organizations, or Prime Contractors is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with Canadian government procurement processes, standing offers, supply arrangements, and contract vehicles is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of remote power solutions, fuel cells, communications infrastructure, surveillance systems, SCADA, or telemetry systems is considered an asset.
  • Strong relationship-building, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, develop, and close strategic business opportunities while managing complex sales cycles.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to identify and capitalize on emerging opportunities within Defense, Government, Public Safety, and Critical Infrastructure sectors.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel throughout Eastern Canada.
  • Bilingual (English/French).

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a strategic business development plan to grow SFC Energy's presence within Defense, Government, Public Safety, and Critical Infrastructure sectors across Eastern Canada.
  • Manage and expand relationships with key accounts, including the Department of National Defence (DND), Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), Federal Government agencies, Public Safety organizations, RCMP, Coast Guard, and related stakeholders.
  • Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities while maintaining a healthy sales pipeline and achieving growth targets.
  • Monitor government procurement opportunities, including RFIs, RFPs, RFQs, standing offers, and other contract vehicles relevant to SFC Energy solutions.
  • Build and maintain relationships with procurement officials, program managers, operational users, prime contractors, system integrators, consultants, and industry partners.
  • Conduct market and competitive analysis to identify emerging opportunities, customer requirements, industry trends, and potential threats.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling presentations, business cases, and solution proposals that demonstrate the value of SFC Energy's fuel cell and remote power technologies.
  • Collaborate with internal technical, engineering, and commercial teams to develop customer-focused solutions that meet operational and mission-critical requirements.
  • Represent SFC Energy at industry conferences, trade shows, customer events, and networking activities to strengthen market awareness and generate new opportunities.
  • Provide accurate sales forecasting, pipeline management, and market intelligence through Salesforce and regular reporting to senior management.
  • Travel throughout Eastern Canada to support customer engagement, business development activities, and strategic growth initiatives.
