We are Seeking: We are currently seeking a Drywall Taper and Finisher to join our Calgary Team.

About Us: Great Western Interiors is a 30+year Insulation and Drywall Contracting Company operating within the Calgary, Edmonton and Columbia Valley areas. We are committed to providing our clients with quality workmanship while meeting expected timelines with an excellent service program. We are currently providing our services for New Residential Builds, Renovations and Multi-Family projects.

We are seeking individuals to train as drywall Tapers, not subcontractors, with a willingness to learn, great work ethic, and the convenience of their own transportation. PLEASE DON'T CALL OFFICE.

Location: This position is based in Calgary, Alberta. This is a field-based position.

Hours: Full-Time Monday-Friday, 40-hours per week.

Position Overview: As a valued member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering top-notch drywall finishing services in our new Edmonton division. The successful candidate will bring a commitment to quality, a positive attitude and the ability to efficiently operate machine tools for applying mud.

Responsibilities:

  • Apply and finish drywall Joints and corners with precision.
  • Operate and maintain drywall finishing tools, including the bazooka, to ensure optimal performance.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to meet project deadlines and maintain high-quality standards.
  • Execute tasks with a focus on safety, cleanliness, and efficiency.
  • Travel to various job sites within the Calgary & area region.

Requirements:

  • Experience in Drywall and/or Construction Industry is considered an asset, but not mandatory.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation is mandatory.
  • Willingness to learn and participate in mentorship and on the job training
  • Teamwork skills. The ability to take direction and work effectively alongside a team to achieve solutions.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to work independently without supervision.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to provide and receive constructive advice and feedback.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work meticulously to achieve high-quality results.
  • Ability to innovate and look outside to the box for creative solutions to address business issues.
  • Understanding basic financial concepts to understand how GWI ensures it is profitable.

Minimum Physical Requirements:

  • Capable of working on-site, standing for a full 8-hour shift
  • Comfortable with climbing scaffolds, ladders, wearing stilts and working on heights Bend, stoop, reach, lift
  • Move and carry construction materials and equipment more than 25 kgs
  • Overtime as required
  • Walking on uneven terrain
  • Working overhead
