Position Highlights
Capital Construction, within Project Delivery, is responsible for overseeing a $4B contract portfolio comprising more than
2,000 active contracts. The Contract Management division in Capital Construction provides strong contract governance,
commercial leadership, and execution excellence to support BC Hydro’s multi-year capital plan. Through continuous
improvement of our people, processes, and tools, we are responsible for all aspects of the safe construction of capital
transmission and generation projects.

We are looking for multiple Contract Professionals for full-time temporary positions, that will fill roles within various teams
within Capital Construction, including but not limited to:

What you'll do

1. The Oversight and Conformance Contracts Management department specializes in the management of major
engineering design External Services Providers contracts for power generation, transmission and distribution services from
award through design, RFx and construction supports, field inspection, delivery, installation, and commissioning at site.

2. The Construction Contract Management (Interior & Coastal) departments specialize in the management of construction,
engineered equipment, and professional services contracts. The teams support project teams in the management of
contracts for projects across the province.

The key responsibilities may include some or all of:

Contract Administration & Contract Management

  • Manage end-to-end contract administration and management, including risk mitigations, scope, schedule, changes,
claims, disputes, deliverables, payments, and contract close-out.
  • Oversee MSA-level contract management, including call-offs, KPI tracking, issue resolution, and dispute management.
  • Ensure supplier performance and relationships are actively managed, evaluated, and continuously improved.
  • Address vendor performance issues, non-compliance, and relationship challenges by identifying solutions and promoting
constructive, mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Capture and apply lessons learned to drive continuous improvement in vendor performance.
  • Chair and or attend progress meetings

Pre-Award & Supply Chain Collaboration

  • Partner with Supply Chain during pre-award activities, including reviewing sourcing strategies, contracting plans, scopes
of work, specifications, RFx documents, and contracts.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen contracts and improve vendor performance outcomes.

Project & Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Work closely with project teams to ensure contract delivery aligns with project objectives.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to design and implement strategies that enhance processes, improve vendor
management, and optimize contract spend.
  • Provide timely and professional contract interpretations and draft contract correspondence accordingly.
  • Monitor contract submittals and deliverables ensuring value contracted is achieved. Monitor timely replies to all submittals
as per time requirements of contracts.

Financial & Performance Management

  • Manage contract and resource budgets through work package development and oversight.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on contract performance (financial, schedule, and operational) to stakeholders.
  • Validate payment requests against verified goods or services received and payment terms of contracts.
  • Accurate reporting of accrued liabilities

Continuous Improvement & Influence

  • Drive process improvements and identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and contract outcomes.
  • Influence and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to optimize contract terms and performance.

What you bring

  • Degree in Engineering, Business, Law, Finance, or a related discipline, plus 7+ years of progressive experience managing
complex contracts; an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience managing high-value and complex contracts, ideally within engineering design or construction
environments.
  • Strong understanding of contract management practices, including risk management, cost optimization, negotiation, and
dispute resolution.
  • Proven ability to influence and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, with strong interpersonal,
communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Experience in change management initiatives and driving innovative solutions to improve contract outcomes and
processes.
  • Experience working with public sector, Crown corporations, or utility industry environments is an asset.
  • Technical background or familiarity with construction management, engineering, or design is considered an asset.
  • Professional designations such as SCMP (PMAC/CSCL) or World Commerce & Contracting (WorldCC) (or progress
toward them) are an asset.
  • Experience with project management practices, including KPI development and tracking, is an asset.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required; experience with SAP is an asset.

  • This posting is for multiple positions which will include Full Time Temporary positions with the potential to become
permanent.
  • Location - Edmonds (Burnaby) or Vernon (Both Hybrid)
  • Some travel required, for occasional site visits etc.
  • Preference will be given to those willing to HQ in Vernon.
  • Additional positions may become available during the recruitment process.
