Barber Collins Security is looking for a full-time security guard. This individual must have a background in Police Foundations, Protection Security and Investigations or an education similar, and preferably have use of force training.

Shifts:

Monday to Friday from 4:30 pm to 12:30 pm

• Full time
• Afternoon shift
• No weekends

Qualifications:

• Completion of emergency telecommunications program or equivalent experience is preferred.
• Trained Security Guard with a diploma in a related field.
• Completed relevant post secondary schooling.
• Graduate or current student of Police Foundations/Law and Security program or any education with equivalent knowledge and experience.

Responsibilities:

• Will be dealing heavily with 2-way radio communications.
• Obtaining knowledge of the P25 Radio system and having the ability to be proficient in radio “900 Code”, “10 Code” and “Phonetic Alphabet” and the “24 Hour Clock” is an asset.
• Being familiar with the panic button monitoring system.
• Triaging emergent and non-emergent responses having primary communications with emergency services.
• Conduct operational briefings, alerts and BOLO’s to all front-line guards and any deployment /call assignments.
• CCTV monitoring via the corresponding video management systems and monitoring the electronic concierge program.
• Access control monitoring – Gates/Cards.
• Watch alarm systems or video cameras and operate any form of detecting/emergency equipment.
• Conducting all operational aspects of incident management software in addition to all operational aspects of dispatch with the assigned dispatch software.
• Answer phones and generate activities/incidents.
• Reference SOP information to front-line guards.
• Monitoring open-source social media in relation to any perceived or real threats to the organization.
• Identify suspicious activities and report them to the appropriate enforcement agencies.
• Any other duties as assigned by your superiors.

Skills:

• Must be able to type 40 words per minute and have experience with administrative processes including dictation skills.
• Proven work experience as a security guard or relevant position.
• Ability to operate detecting systems and emergency equipment.
• Excellent knowledge of public safety and security procedures/protocols.
• Surveillance skills and detail orientation.
• Integrity and professionalism.
• Ability to operate security equipment/systems, computers, radios, phones.
• Meticulous record keeping, report writing, observation skills.
