Full job description

Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Dietary Aide to join our team in providing exceptional person-centred nutritional support within our non-profit long term care home. The ideal candidate will assist with meal preparation, food service, and sanitation to ensure residents receive quality care in a welcoming, clean and safe environment. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the well-being of others while gaining valuable experience in food handling and healthcare support.

Duties

  • Assist with meal preparation, including cooking and portioning food according to dietary guidelines
  • Serve meals to residents with professionalism and excellent customer service skills
  • Ensure proper food handling and safety procedures are followed at all times
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and dining areas, including cleaning utensils, surfaces, and equipment
  • Support with inventory management by stocking supplies and monitoring expiration dates
  • Follow established protocols for food safety, sanitation, and infection control
  • Assist with dietary documentation and record keeping as required by facility policies
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff and healthcare team to meet residents’ nutritional needs

Experience

  • Previous experience in assisted living, nursing home, hospital, or food industry is needed.
  • Knowledge of food preparation, cooking, and food service operations
  • Familiarity with food safety standards and sanitation practices
  • Experience in food handling, meal preparation, serving, and kitchen cleanliness is advantageous
  • Strong time management skills to efficiently handle multiple tasks during busy shifts
  • Excellent customer service skills to interact positively with residents
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
