  • Plan, deliver, and evaluate events and placemaking initiatives alongside colleagues, sharing both coordination and hands-on execution
  • Work with colleagues to recruit, support, and guide summer students and contribute directly to related program activities
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with business members in partnership with staff, particularly across the retail, office, and development sectors
  • Collaborate with the CEO and team on the development and execution of the DSBIA Strategic Plan, contributing wherever support is needed
  • Participate in budgeting, financial planning, and cash-flow monitoring with the CEO and relevant team members
  • Develop partnerships with business owners, community organizations, and all levels of government in coordination with colleagues
  • Visits to businesses to build relationships
  • Represent the DSBIA on committees, task forces, and sector forums, sharing insights and follow-up with the broader team
  • Work with colleagues and partners to deliver member services and initiatives related to public safety, transportation, sustainability, and downtown enhancement
  • Pitch in on website updates and improvements, coordinating with staff and external service providers as needed

Experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and database systems, with confidence using digital tools for communications, event registration and record keeping
  • Familiarity with AI tools with sound judgement around accuracy, confidentiality and appropriate use
  • Strong attention to detail and shared accountability, including raising issues early, communicating openly, and working with others on corrective action
  • Experience with budgeting, financial oversight, and strategic planning
  • Ability to build trust, share information, and work effectively with diverse colleagues and stakeholders
  • Experience contributing directly to event planning, delivery, and community engagement as part of a team
