Full job description

Position Summary:
The Vice President is a senior executive leader responsible for advancing NEC’s priorities and ensuring coordinated, culturally grounded operations across the College. Working closely with the President and executive team, the VP turns strategic direction into institution-wide action, strengthens collaboration, and supports NEC’s commitments to learners, communities, and partners.

The VP leads organizational alignment, governance, and institutional performance, ensuring policies, operations, and major initiatives reflect NEC’s mission, Longhouse values, and Indigenous-centered approaches. Through integrated oversight and proactive risk monitoring, the Vice President supports NEC’s sustainability, accountability, and long-term success.

Qualifications:
Master’s degree or higher in a relevant field, with a Doctorate preferred for academic or institution-wide strategy portfolios.

Eight (8) to ten (10) years of senior executive leadership experience, demonstrating the ability to lead institution wide strategy, coordination, and organizational effectiveness.

Demonstrated experience in post-secondary education or a comparable complex sector, with proven ability to navigate multi-department environments and executive-level governance.

Strong understanding of Indigenous education, governance, and community engagement, ensuring alignment with NEC’s mission, Longhouse values, and Indigenous-centered approaches.

Experience working in complex, unionized environments, with the ability to support organizational alignment and resolve cross-functional issues.

Proven ability to lead large teams and complex portfolios, ensuring coordinated execution of strategic priorities and institutional initiatives.

Ability to pass a criminal record check as required for roles involving executive oversight and institutional accountability.

Experience working within Indigenous or community-based organizations is considered an asset.

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.

Terms:

Appointment may require a criminal record check; results may affect final offer of employment.

Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required for programming or events.

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm-35 hours per week, possibility of evening and weekend shifts

Salary: $140000-$165000/Yr.
