Summary
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Vice President, Corporate Services is a key member of the Executive Leadership Team responsible for developing and executing the organization's enterprise strategy for Human Resources, Information Technology, Health & Safety, and Corporate Administration.
The VP Corporate Services provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and governance across critical corporate functions that support the organization's continued growth, operational excellence, and long-term business objectives. The role is accountable for ensuring that people, technology, safety, and administrative strategies are aligned with organizational priorities while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
The successful candidate will bring significant executive leadership experience within corporate services functions and a demonstrated track record of leading multidisciplinary teams, driving organizational transformation, and partnering with executive leaders and Boards to achieve strategic goals.
Travel is required to company locations across Canada.
Executive Leadership & Strategy
- Develop and execute a national Corporate Services strategy aligned with the organization's mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO and Executive Leadership Team on organizational effectiveness, workforce strategy, technology, governance, risk, and health and safety matters.
- Lead enterprise-wide initiatives that improve organizational performance, scalability, operational efficiency, and employee engagement.
- Establish performance measures, accountability frameworks, and reporting mechanisms to evaluate the effectiveness of Corporate Services functions.
- Foster collaboration and alignment across departments, operating divisions, and geographic locations.
- Lead strategic planning initiatives and support the execution of organizational priorities.
- Prepare and present executive reports, strategic recommendations, and Board materials.
Human Resources Leadership
- Provide strategic oversight of all Human Resources functions, including workforce planning, talent management, organizational development, succession planning, compensation, employee relations, and employee engagement.
- Lead initiatives that strengthen organizational culture, leadership capability, and workforce effectiveness.
- Ensure compliance with applicable employment legislation, human rights legislation, labour standards, and regulatory requirements across all operating jurisdictions.
- Support the development of high-performing leaders through coaching, mentorship, and leadership development initiatives.
- Drive continuous improvement of HR systems, policies, processes, and programs.
Information Technology Leadership
- Provide executive oversight and strategic direction for the Information Technology function through leadership of internal teams and external technology partners.
- Ensure technology strategies, systems, and infrastructure support current operational requirements and future organizational growth.
- Oversee IT governance, cybersecurity, data management, business continuity, and technology risk management practices.
- Lead technology modernization initiatives, system implementations, and digital transformation projects.
- Oversee vendor selection, contract negotiations, and technology investments to maximize value and performance.
Health & Safety Leadership
- Provide executive leadership and oversight of the organization's Health, Safety, and Environmental programs.
- Champion a proactive safety culture that promotes employee well-being, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.
- Ensure compliance with applicable occupational health and safety legislation and industry standards across all jurisdictions.
- Oversee health and safety management systems, COR certification requirements, risk management programs, incident investigations, and corrective action processes.
- Monitor organizational performance indicators and lead initiatives that reduce risk and improve safety outcomes.
Corporate Governance & Business Operations
- Support effective corporate governance practices through preparation of Board materials, strategic reports, and organizational performance updates.
- Lead organizational planning processes and facilitate strategic planning sessions.
- Provide oversight of corporate communications and social media initiatives to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and brand standards.
- Support initiatives that maintain and strengthen the organization's reputation, industry standing, and recognition programs, including Best Managed Company status.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational effectiveness, governance, risk management, and organizational performance.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop senior leaders within Human Resources, Information Technology, Health & Safety, and Corporate Services functions.
- Build a high-performing leadership team through succession planning, talent development, coaching, and performance management.
- Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, inclusion, and continuous learning.
- Ensure leadership capability and organizational bench strength support future business growth.
Qualifications & Experience
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Information Technology, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience within Human Resources, Health & Safety, Information Technology, Corporate Services, or related corporate functions.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior executive leadership role with accountability for multiple corporate functions.
- Demonstrated experience directly leading or overseeing Human Resources, Information Technology, and Health & Safety functions.
- Experience serving as a member of an executive leadership team reporting to a CEO, President, Board of Directors, or ownership group.
- Proven experience leading organizational transformation, change management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Experience managing multi-disciplinary leadership teams in a multi-site and/or multi-provincial environment.
- Strong business and financial acumen, including experience overseeing budgets, capital investments, vendor contracts, and strategic planning processes.
- Demonstrated ability to influence executive stakeholders and build alignment across diverse business groups.
Preferred
- CPHR/CHRP designation strongly preferred.
- Additional professional designations such as CRSP, CHSC, PMP, IT governance, cybersecurity, or related certifications are considered assets.
- Experience in industrial, transportation, construction, environmental services, infrastructure, manufacturing, or similarly regulated industries.
- Experience supporting organizational growth, acquisitions, integration initiatives, or private-equity-backed organizations is considered an asset.
- Experience presenting to Boards of Directors and executive stakeholders.
