Job Summary

The Terminal Manager is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and performance of the terminal, ensuring dispatch, fleet operations, and support functions are managed effectively to meet delivery commitments, customer service expectations, productivity and operating earnings targets.

This role oversees terminal personnel and works collaboratively with other terminals and corporate functions to optimize asset utilization, routing, and compliance with all applicable transportation regulations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee terminal dispatch operations.
  • Ensure compliance with transportation regulations (MTO/DOT/CTPAT/NSC) and company policies.
  • Create and present operational reports to senior management; track terminal KPIs, fiscal and performance targets.
  • Maximize driver and asset utilization through efficient routing and planning.
  • Lead the recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and development of drivers and terminal staff.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues.
  • Evaluate employee performance and coach for continuous improvement.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships; ensure service levels and commitments are met.
  • Collaborate with Fleet & Maintenance to prioritize repairs and optimize equipment availability.
  • Partner with Safety & Compliance to uphold high safety standards.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive logistics/transportation operations experience.
  • Diploma/Degree/Certification in Business, Logistics, Transportation, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience with routing, optimization, and dispatch planning.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Transportation Management Systems (TMS); familiarity with Samsara ELD software.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, set priorities, solve problems, and make sound decisions.
  • Strong written communication skills for procedures, reports, and business process documentation.
  • Comfortable engaging directly with drivers to address issues and concerns; strong customer service orientation.
  • Some travel to various sites in North America will be required
